1st day of vacation and I was getting ready to go to the range this morning when a severe thunderstorm changed my plans. Well, it gave me the time to try contacting someone at ebay by phone (quite a trip just finding the number). I should have known better, I found myself in a maze of recorded messages, and just plain BS, so I gave up. Instead I found a section in customer support, where you can report a member and/or items to an ebay agent, so I sent a detailed email listing the three brass pipe bombs this guy currently has listed, and the 14 past sales that include both steel and brass pipe bombs. I didn't mince any words in describing what I thought about this seller's product, or the hazards that buyers could be facing if they try to fire them.
My suggestion would be to wait on taking any further action for a few days, just to see what kind of response they give.

Well done, John!

To those of us whom have designed/built/blown-up cannons his designs are lacking.  You've taken responsibility to protect other folks' safety.  I'd love to know the email address - they hide it well.

KABAR2 check out brasscannons.com    ;)
Ok I checked out this site.... he is casting his cannon solid and boreing them... from the overall design it looks like a good solid cannon I have sent an inquiry as to weather he is casting in brass or bronze I have seen many times they say brass when they mean bronze.
And just for grins&giggles.... This came from a reference commonly used in the hydraulic industry and were stated for ASTM A53 welded and seamless pipe. 1/2" ASTM A53 grade B type S and ASTM A106 grade B schedule 40 2600 psi.  Now 1018 steel =70,000 psi vs 2600 psi....Hmmm a differnce of 67,400 psi ..... which would you choose for your next black powder project???

I recieved an email form brasscannons.com from Mike Hood, his answer "We use Bronze"

I'd love to know the email address - they hide it well.

Now hold on to your hat Cat, because I really do think they try and hide it on purpose.
Open the eBay home page and sign in.
Upper right corner, click on 'CustomerSupport'.
Left column - Browse articles - click on 'Rules & policies'.
Right column top - click on 'Contact us'.
Put cursor on Selling - under Resolving selling problems - click on 'Report a member'.
No.2 Get quick help - click on 'Another policy violation'.
Bottom right corner - Hallelujah - click on "Email us'.
I'm sure there's got to be some easier way to email these folks, but this is the road I found.

CW; if you'd also like the phone numbers (there's an 800 no. and a CA no.) I'll send them by PM, because I can't even remember all the gyrations involved to get to that page.

Many thanks, John -

I'll hammer out a response to them in detail tonight after work.  Voice is ok, but this leaves a trail of 1's and 0's (didn't have the heart to say paper trail).

In response to my email to ebay I was sent a return email with a new phone number which I tried this morning, and believe it or not I finally got to speak with a real live person, in fact I got to talk to two of them. After the first ebay representative consulted with a supervisor who agreed that these items weren't allowed on ebay, I was transfered to the "Trust and Safety Department." After the agent there reviewed the items in question she informed me that they were going to take action against this account, and the items were definitely going to be removed, she also said that there were other complaints on record, so our earlier efforts weren't in vain. All we can do now is wait to see what happens, I just checked and the items are still listed.

I know, I've seen them! I called the number I was given again, and made another report to a live body. It's amazing, I've been following (quality) items that were pulled by eBay, but now they're dragging their feet on removing this garbage.
Anyone that's interested in stopping this pimp from selling this trash, send me a PM and I'll give you the phone number to talk to an eBay representative (the more the merrier).

Yup.  I've had a couple of mine get pulled before.  It is all in the wording.  Just have to say:  "for signal/salute purposes only" and "not for firing projectiles" and "for sale to US locations only".

This whole post is excellent, and I feel it is a good tutorial for "newbie" Cannoneers. Just having a Ph.# where a live person can be reached at Ebay is worth half the thread! Thanks, John! Even those who shoot many types of weapons still can learn from the dedicated folks on this Site. Thanks to all who contributed, with many valuable parts of the whole. BoomLover

I've been keeping an eye on this "cannon manufacturer," and he hasn't been active on eBay since Oct. 18, which is unusual because his record shows that he's been steadily selling/buying from December 2004 when he first joined. I'm wishfully thinking that the ebay police may have finally invited him to take a powder for a while. I'm not saying we had anything to do with it, this guy was also selling combat knifes and bows, but in any case at least he hasn't been selling any of these dangerous "tubes" lately.

Having nothing better to do, I decided to email the builder about the safety of this device he calls a cannon.
I received an immediate response to the 1st that was not fit to display here.
I sent a reply basically consisting of metallurgy, engineering and known safe construction techniques and received this reply apparently from a different person.

Hi,
See your point.  Will consider if and when we make anymore (these have not been sold in at least a year) Sorry Mike gave you the lip hes a little crazy. This website is not one I really mess with anymore.  I sell knives and boots on ebay mostly now.  Nam ****** Mike up and I would just leave this alone if I were you.  I'll take care of it.

I couldn't tell you if Nam messed Mike's head up, or not, but I'll bet that getting suspended by eBay hasn't helped sweeten his disposition any. There's still been no activity on his account since October 18, and that's just a crying shame. :(

flagman1776,

You beat me to it, I just saw it, and then came here to post a pic of it. Well, time to get busy again! The seller's name is georgia-craftsman and he's got 262 transactions under his belt, but I've checked his record as far back as item descriptions are available, and this seems to be his first time selling a deadly piece of junk like this. The first step will be to contact him, and let him know just how dangerous this thing is.
