I would like to know a good place to purchase parts for my mountain howlitzer such as iron work straps for trundles axle strap ect.

There is a sub-forum on Graybeard Outdoors that is dedicated to

Black Powder Mortars and Cannon  <<===link

Be sure to look through the stickys, there is one called Links List that has all sorts of suppliers.

Did you make the tube yourself?  If not, who made it?  Bronze, steel or iron?  Full sized?  Do you intend to use it just for blanks, or are you thinking about live firing it?

When you say "iron work straps for the trundles" do you mean cap squares for the trunnions?  Check out this page at Steen Cannon Works  for a diagram of a carriage and the names of the parts.

Good luck, and I'll see you in the Cannon forum.  You will be asked all those questions, and others.

My pleasure, sir.  That was the sub-forum that brought me to Graybeard Outdoors in the first place.  I was looking for help with how to use a pendulum hausse for a 3" Ordnance Rifle.  I had no idea what the markings were.

Hey CannonKrazy, good to see you poking around in here a little...  ;D

It's been a while, we need to get a glass of tea or something one day soon so we get caught up a bit... LOL

Gunsncrooks, did you find what you were looking for?  I haven't seen a post by you over on the Mortar and Cannon forum.  Seriously, if you have ANY questions about muzzle loading cannons, there will be someone there who can either answer you right away, tell you where to find it, or look it up for you.

Pics would sure be appreciated!
Maybe some stories too, about manufature, and accuracy?
