need a rear sight
« on: July 05, 2011, 03:55:35 PM »
Hello to all, I am new to posting on this forum, been lurking for months.  I have only a few Handis, 223 bull, 45-70 and a newly aquired 258 30-30/20 gauge combo that I could not pass up.  Question for the gurus I have.  I got the 30-30 barrel with a scope rail and it is missing the rear sight.  I would like to know if I can just call customer service and get one and if anyone knows the part number that I need.  Thought about a peep, just not sure right now.  Any help would be great.

Welcome! H&R1871 won't have sights for an H&R Inc firearm, at least not the original dovetailed sight, they only carry parts for modern H&Rs made 1987 and later, if it has a screw on sight, they may be able to help you , I checked Numrich, they don't list any rear sights, just front sights.

Will a peep sight easily go into the empty dovetail from the original rear sight?

The Marble Bullseye sight will, that's in our FAQs sticky above along with just about everything else H&R.  ;)
