Know some use brake cleaner to clean their guns and it works OK for that. Here is another use for it.
Back in the 70s, I worked in an auto parts store. One day an elderly lady came into the store for the first time and bought a can of brake cleaner. Next week or so, she returned and bought another can. About same amount of time later, she returned to buy another can. This time I waited on her. I commented about her Brake Cleaner purchases and asked for some kind of explanation for it. She answered explaining her husband was highly allergic to both stinging insects (wasps, bees and etc.) and any of the usual insect/bug sprays you could buy. One day her husband was doing a brake job in their driveway when a red wasp decided to land next to him and wouldn't go away. So, to drive the wasp away, husband sprayed the wasp with a shot of brake cleaner he was using. Wasp dropped instantly dead. So, brake cleaner was now their bug spray killer around the house.
So, over the years I usually have kept a can of brake cleaner handy....cheaper than bug spray or the so called hornet spray. I have a covered parking area at my home that I spend a great deal of time under since my work benches are there. Every couple of weeks or so, I grab the can of brake cleaner on my work bench and deal with the spiders in the rafters above my head. One shot they're dead. Any wasp or bumble bee type insect bothering me around the workbench gets zapped too. Works great.
