Marlin 1894 44mag loading problem
« on: July 09, 2011, 03:11:18 AM »
Hey guys i got a 1894 44mag that im having problem with it loading. What happens is when you work the action the round gets stuck half way out from the mag tube into the chamber. It locks up the action i mean will not move! any ideas it is a older rifle without the safety.

One problem occurs when you use a round with a too long cartridge overall length (OAL). If you go to www.marlinowners.com, go to the 1894 forum, there is a ton on info on "The Marlin Jam", and also how to modify the lifter/carrier to accomodate longer then standard rounds. Plus info on how to slick up the action. Great site, great info there.

Check all your screws on the receiver also.  I've had a loose loading gate screw lock things up.  Just don't tighten so much you snap the screw, lock tight is your friend. ;)   DP

what is happening is your shell is stemming, you need you adjust the extractor, its cuting into your shell, not alot just enough to bind things up...I fix them for a living i see it alot
