Does anyone buy cast bullets from GADS ?
« on: July 10, 2011, 07:18:07 AM »
I am looking for a cast bullet of .515 dia. and cast of a soft alloy.
My search for this bullet led me to Gads Custom Cartridges,  www.gadscustomcartridges.com  and I think they have what I want.
My question is , have any of you shooters used any of there bullets ?  There pictures of the bullets look like they are not that well finished ?
There prices seem reasonable, but Im not sure of there quality from what I see on there website.
I need a bullet of not less than .515 dia. something around 350 grs. or less not a big long heavyweight bullet.          Thanks,   Jed

I bought 3 boxes of 40-82 ammo from them a few years ago before I sarted reloading for that gun.  The lead  bullets that were in the cartridges were fine.  I pulled some of the bullets to check diameters, powder charge, etc. before I ran them through my 86.  If in doubt, give them a call.  IIRC the fellows name is Bernold.  He seemed to be knowledgable and has been doing this for a long time.

Thanks for the reply,  I was ready to order and last week prices went up nearly 40 % overnite so I ask GBO members in the reloadimg forum and got a quick reply.
So I am buying my bullets from one of our members instead.      Thanks,  Jed

Kinda what I was thinking  ;D  , but alass , yes people do buy cast bullets , unlike us more addicted folks that just need to control all the aspects of our hobby .  ;)

I must have control issues. I really enjoy being able to control every aspect of my reloading. I do understand that casting isn't feasible for everyone due to individual circumstances.
