I know of a professor at the University of Tennessee. Who was an agnostic, but became a Christian after years of study of rocks. He was a geologist. He said granite rock contains 5% uranium. He said the unarium is dispersed throughout the rock like bubbles in Alka seltzer that froze instantly while still fizzing. He said they have tried to recreate granite in lab conditions using the same minerals and chemicals. Heat applied, pressure, etc. and it all comes out seperate. He came to the conclusion that granite was created instantly. Now, he said there are more evidences of creation. No animals are in mutation to another species. Archeology has proven everything in the Bible so far. They even found where they crossed the Red sea and found the chariot wheels in the bottom of the sea. Everyone who is against creation tries to make the timeline of 5000-7000 years. However, this may not be the case especially in early Genisis. If more scientific evidence PROVES creation, why is this not being taught. For instance, carbon 14 dating shows a live mollosk to be 3 million years old. At least balance it on both sides. It is just like global warming. Pseudo science twisted by politics to tell us something. Now they are saying we may be entering into another ice age because of the sun spot activity. The sun is 1 million times larger than earth. I think it will have a greater effect than what little we burn. Christianity is attacked because men love their sin, and don't want to admit they are a sinner, and that there is a Higher Power. When our country was more evangelized like in 1960, there was less stealing, less adultry, fewer murders, less bank and Wall Street greed. CEO's cared about their companies and their workers more. The hippy movement got kids and blacks involved in "free love" and drugs. Johnson started his "Great Society" programs. People became dependent. Young people questioned everything their parents stood for. Like they had a lot of experience with depressions, world wars, etc. They began to believe in the socialists utopian ideas. Sorry foor the rant.

Humans will believe most anything that will allow them to sin. We talk of things we study when in fact what is proven by humans is but a fly spec in what has happened. When some human can prove where it all started he will have my attention. Not the earth or man but space , the universe and all it holds ? Humans at least some think that the world will end on 12-21-12 because some people didn't take their calandar any farther .
They don't call the followers of God on the right because they are wrong and the ones on the left because they get to go for nothing . Think about it

I had a friend who died several years ago. We played and sang Bluegrass music together in a local group.Fine fellow who would give you the shirt off his back, had a wonderful voice and loved to sing gospel bluegrass.

He was also an Atheist.I think the only thing he liked better than playing music was making fun of Christians.I have found this to be true with most Atheists.They seem to take pride in verbally assaulting their Christian friends. I've always been puzzled by this! Why would someone who is in many ways a kind person, want to do this.Is this something one feels they MUST do if they are a non believer?

Remember Flip Wilson? He would have said......."The Devil made me do it", but If there is No God, there is NO Devil.

Yup, and it's been my personal experience that those who resort to insulting have the same problem... It's bluster over substance, hoping they can bully a point they can't logically win.

This is false. There is hope for anyone. Don't confuse religion and Christianity. The first is about building, programs, and men. The latter isn't. The church creates most athiest and I fully understand why they feel the way they do and love them all the more. I believe there's likely much more hope for most athiest than frequent church goers.

Some granites contain between ten and twenty parts per million uranium. Several orders of magnitude less than the value cited.

I am in complete agreement with Swampman here. Once upon a time I was a devoted christian and church attendee. After several unfavorable encounters with so called christians and one self proclaimed "christian soldier" who could have been confused with a muslim jihadist, I would have to consider myself an agnostic/borderline atheist. I have come to the conclusion that if there is indeed a god I am more likely to find him in his house-that being the outdoors that he created rather than through some middle-man in a man made structure.

Why must it be and either/or proposition? Religion and science are about different things. Kind of like saying you have to be either an architect or a carpenter is responsible for a house, but that it can't be both.

There need be no conflict between geology & cosmology with the idea that God created it all.

Exactly. Otherwise we're left with arguments that the earth is only thousands of years old or that once upon a time there was nothing and then it blew up and created everything.

Granite depends on what type of granite. A book I read on nuclear power stated the 5%. That if we went all nuclear power nationwide, we have an unlimited supply of uranium in granite since nukes don't require a whole lot of uranium. The "church" is supposed to be a gathering of believers for study, worship, and to help each other. It is not a building or a building program or any other thing. Supporting missionaries and helping each other doesn't always require money. Denominations have made church into something other than the original intent.

Is this what we should tell people that are searching? I was wondering what makes you think that going to church is a waste of time and money. Unless at the 50 different churches you attended, the Pastor didn't preach from the Bible. A lot of churches do God's work in their communities. The Church gives as a whole to provide for needy people. The church I belong to for instance collects food for the local food bank once a month. We collect things like soap, washcloths, toothpaste, tooth brushes, socks, and other items, to send overseas to our soldiers.
A church is a place you go to worship God, learn his word, pray, have communion, and have fellowship with other believers. If you think this is all a waste of time and money maybe you should look at yourself in a mirror.

Paul gave an excellent illustration to the believers in Corinth. The church is God's hands, mouth, and feet, in this world- the body of Christ.
