Even the $ stores are feeling obamas depression as Americans keep having less and less to spend, all part of his plan to destroy us. POWDERMAN.

the link didn't open for some reason.  I've kept a close watch on my county for two years and have seen several stores in that catagory close down along with 3 pretty good restaurants.

I think the likely cuplrit for a decline in business there is that they've built their brand recognition around a fixed price when currency by its nature ALWAYS decreases in value over time.  Right now inflation is a bit quicker than we'd like, but it's always there.  As the value of the dollar falls the stuff in these stores - already bottom of the barrel junk - gets even worse.  Most of it is just plain garbage that makes the crap in Wal-mart look like finely crafted luxury items by comparison. 


Besides - I'd wager that aside from maybe the candy bars in there virtually nothing in a dollar store is made in this country.  The very existence of these things has done far more to hurt our manufacturing economy than the retail income could ever make up for.

We buy most of our over the counter meds at the $ general and dollar tree. Gen benadryl from the $ tree was $1 per hundred before obama, then to $1 per 50, then, $1 per 40, now it's 36. At the $ general 24pks were $1, now $1.75, 100 pks went from $1.50 to $4. Still cheaper than most other places but I can't stand much more of the obaminations change. POWDERMAN.

btw, since it looks like incadescent bulbs are on the way out I started buying 100W at walmart, 4 GE bulbs for $1.24.  I bought 3 packs today.

Our $ general burned 2 weeks ago, the paper said that the employees would go to work in other $ stores. We went to one in another small town and saw one of the displaced. This was her 1st day working in 2 weeks and it was for only 4 hours. I was afraid they would use this as an excuse to cut hours. I aked the mgr if anybody lost hours and she said the co is only allowing 20- 30 hrs a week over 5 or 6 days. No excuse for that. POWDERMAN.

As one poster said, the dollar declines in value. It is not a natural occurance though. The government (FED) must first print more money and that devalues the dollar. When you increase the stock of something it's value must decline when demand remains relatively stable. The stock market is up because much of that created money has flowed to stocks, as it has to energy, food and clothing. Bush and Obama both have made the real economy worse by robbing capital from the private economy. That is why unemployment is getting worse. As the real economy weakens, so will retail sales. Government figures of retail sales include inflation because they measure dollars spent, however unit sales are actually declining more than thought.  Money printing actually hurts poor people worse because their money is devaluated while government gets to spend it before it devalues. This is a way of secretly robbing their wealth; reverse Robinhood. So Junior, democrats make poor people poor. But so do the republicans. That is the downfall of socialism.
