What's up with my Marlin 1894P ?
« on: July 12, 2011, 08:18:05 PM »
Twice today, I chambered a round like usual, and the trigger would not budge. I ejected the round, reloaded it, and it fired.
I tried to make sure I was holding the loop in a tight enough grip so the little "interlock" stud that prevents firing with an open breech was pressed tightly.
The only other thing I can think of is the o-ring I have on my manual safety button on the left of the receiver. The idea is it keeps the safety button always in the "fire" position, removing a lawyered design feature.

Has this happened to you ? Any ideas ? Thanks, guys !

Have you tried shooting it with out the o-ring and see if it still does it?
an unloaded wepon is equal to the same mass and volume as a rock.

Thanks YD: Yes, that is the next logical step. I haven't had time yet to try it at the range.
I suspect it is not the problem, but can't really say why, lol. Plus intermittent problems can be a bear to troubleshoot and fix.
thanks again

[chambered a round like usual, and the trigger would not budge]

That happen to me, with one rifle only - a Winchester 94, though.

Upon disassembly/diagnosis, the prob turned out to be a kinked/bent pin in the trigger/sear system - which I replaced with a piece of the proper diameter drill rod, ground to length.
