What Pistol Scope???
« on: January 02, 2004, 05:03:31 PM »
I am looking for a pistol scope with 6 power or better that has the same eye relief as the 4 power leupold I have.  I have seen a few nice variable scopes out there but as soon as you turn up the power the eye relief is gone.  I have seen claims that the Bushnell scopes still have arms length eye relief when set on 6 power.  can anyone varify this claim?  I shoot from the creedmore position alot and any info you could give me would be very helpful.  Thanks

They have the most eye relief of any handgun scope that I know of.  I had one and it was almost more eye relief than I wanted.   It is pretty much constant throughout the powers. I had a Elite model on a .35 Remington and thoroughly enjoyed it.  I had the opportunity to go to a 3-12x Burris and that is the only reason I sold it.

Thanks for the reply Possum.  If you had to guess what the eye relief was in inches what would you say?  I am hoping for about 23 inches.  And if I could ask one more question....... your 3-12 set at what magnification would provide 23 inches of eye relief?  Thanks again!

I have a bushnell elite 2x6 thats on a .223 barrel, It has a constant eye releif of 20 inches and works fine , The trophy has I belive has 18 inches of eye relief .
I had to figure this out the hard way ,When you measure for the eye relief you need measure from were the scope is actually going to be not from your eye to your hand ,The scope will be several inches behind the web of your hand. It saved me the need of several inches of eye relief and made finding a  scope a little easyer.

I use the Elite 3000 2x6 on my Anschutz in IHMSA .22 UAS - can easily get full view at 6x from creedmore. This scope and the new Elite 3200 are some awesome scopes. I have been using 2 different ones and after 2+ years of use and MANY adjustments up and down - they still return to zero everytime.

braud, UAS is just what I have planned.  The 4X Leupold I have is a fine scope but I think I could use a little more magnification.  The reason for the 23 inches of desired eye relief is because I'm 6'4" and my knees don't bend like they use to.  My hopes are to avoid a Ken Light reverse mount.  They must work great but they look a little funny to me.  Have you seen many of them in use where you shoot?

I was out for a while.  The 20" relief is constant on the Bushnell scope.  It is a really nice scope.  I never had a problem and would mount another one in a minute on any handgun.  The Burris I have to get down to (I'm gonna guess here without the spec sheets in front of me) about 3X-4X before I can get a large amount of relief with it.  However, the relief was not why I went with it - the high end power was what I was looking for.

You still can't go wrong with the Elite model or even the trophy.  The only thing I will say about the Elite is that at 6X the field of view was smaller than I desired.  In the woods it was difficult to deal with, but at the range or open fields it was not bad.
