Hundreds of Professional Football players in our very own nation are going to be locked out, forced through no fault if their own to live at well below the seven-figure salary level they have been receiving. And as if that weren't bad enough they could be deprived of their life-giving pay for several months, possibly even longer, as a result of the upcoming lockout situation. But here's the GOOD news -- YOU can help!

For only $27,080 a month, only about $902.75 a day (that's less than the cost of a large screen projection TV), you can help an NFL player remain economically viable during his time of need. This contribution by no means solves the problem totally, as it barely covers the annual minimum salary, but it IS a start, and every little bit helps!

Although $900 may not seem like a lot of money to you, to a football player it could mean the difference between spending the lockout golfing in Florida or on a Mediterranean cruise. For you, nine hundred dollars is nothing more than a month's rent, a mortgage payment, or a month of medical insurance, but to a football player, $900 will partially replace his daily salary.

Your commitment of only $900 a day will enable a player to buy that badly needed home entertainment center, trade in his year-old Lexus for a new Ferrari, or enjoy a weekend in Rio.

Each month, you will receive a complete financial report on the player you sponsor. Detailed information about his stocks, bonds, 401(k), real estate, and other investment holdings will be mailed to your home. Plus, upon signing up for this program, you will receive an unsigned photo of the player lounging during the lockout on a beach somewhere in the Caribbean (for a signed photo, please include an additional $150). Put the photo on your refrigerator to remind you of other peoples' suffering.

Didn't realize it wuz happening but I hope it's not resolved for at least a year or three. Actually I'd kinda like to see them never play again so the shows I wanna watch can be aired rather than the stupid over time for ball games. Toss all the rest of the various games played with balls into the same category.

BILL. Personally I can't stand football or baseball. I used to like baseball til those spoiled brat millionaires showed their true colors and cancelled the world series, haven't watched a game since. I'd about as soon watch paint dry as to watch either. POWDERMAN.

years ago I watched baseball all the time, then they went on strike and turner TV started showing minor league baseball. those boys hustled!! when the majors returned, they were so dull that I just turned them off.

This just can't stand; our professional athletes are a national treasure and we need to subsidize their livelyhoods. We've bailed out everything else, so a few billion for football, baseball, hockey, basketball, soccer, golf, shuffle board, volleyball, ping pong, bowling and tennis is an investment the federal government needs to do. But not one thin dime for badminton and croquet.

I don't watch any of the pro sports anymore. I quit watching after the first series of strikes. Only the fans get hurt in these things, I refuse to be held hostage by either side. I'll just grab that ultra light pole and go give some bass the buisness.

Powderman: I didn't realize they had it so bad.

(Back during the early 80s I lived down the street from a Miami Dolphins player. Some of those guys didn't make very good wage back then. I think I was making more than him as a junior white collar worker. I guess things changed.)

Crybabies, that’s both sides in this dispute. I can’t support either side, both are very overpaid. Most of the drug addict players couldn’t earn a living in any other arena. I admit some are decent, law abiding citizens but the majority is scum. Looking at the price for admission, a drink and hot dog at Cowboy stadium should require Jerry Jones to wear a mask. Crooks, the whole bunch, ain’t gonna hurt my feelings at all if they never play again.

Either way, there is still Friday night football here in Texas……………….

I inquired about buying two tickets for an NFL game once because I thought it would be something my son and I would like to share. The game was in my home city. After I figured out what it would cost of seeing the game from the cheap seats, I learned that for the same money I could take the entire family to a nearby resort town for a weekend at a nice hotel with a pool, and all meals at restaurants, and the gas I'd need for the 240 mile round trip. Needless to say, that was my last interest in an NFL game.

I get tickets from time to time . Once I was given 5 for some seats in front of the Box I had gone to before. They were nose bleed seats the players looked like ants . I had to buy food ( no big deal) hot dogs , FF's and drink for 5 was over $60.00 bucks and they were like rubber. Kids had more fun looking at the submarine and weather ship on display next door .

I also don't quite understand Nascar. I'm very glad it's popular but it seems pretty bland compared to, say, formula 1 or drag racing. As with most of these things, I always prefer to watch the amateur events. They are not interrupted, the players are almost as good as the pros, it costs almost nothing to go, etc. One of the best entertainment values is the southern tradition of dirt track racing followed by a demolition derby.

When it started the guy watching could go to a dealer and buy a car like the one that won the race he just watched on sunday. Now with all the cars being the same for the most part and not much like whats on the show room floor I agree with you .

get rid of them, hire new young and hungry players and lets get some fast action going. this will teach them for years ( decades) to come. dam prima donnas. The last lesson was remembered since 1987. they just need to get their minds right.
