anybody ever plant sugar beets in a food plot?

i purchased a pound of sugar beet seed the other day to add to my food plots.anybody have any experience with them?ill prob plant a strip of them beside some rye and turnips.im hopeing to plant them 1st or second week in august, just hope this drought doesnt continue all fall.

it's rained hard off an on since saturday to sort of catch us up here in sedalia, how about for you?

we are dry as a bone down here south of joplin. may not even bother to plant any food plots till we start getting some moisture.

I planted suger beets two years ago in the spring. They grew quite well but no deer damage even though tracks were in the patch.

I have never really gotten into baiting (since I can't do here in Indiana), but when I lived in Michigan, they sold tons of sugar beets to hunters. But, I believe they had more luck putting them in piles, rather using them as a food plot.

Turnips deer love....never tried beets as we pickle most of what we grow.
