we are dry as a bone down here south of joplin. may not even bother to plant any food plots till we start getting some moisture.

I planted suger beets two years ago in the spring.  They grew quite well but no deer damage even though tracks were in the patch.

I have never really gotten into baiting (since I can't do here in Indiana), but when I lived in Michigan, they sold tons of sugar beets to hunters. But, I believe they had more luck putting them in piles, rather using them as a food plot.

I carry a single shot.
'cause it only takes one shot.

Turnips deer love....never tried beets as we pickle most of what we grow.
Quality will be remembered long after price is forgotten
