There are no spam cans of surplus 9x18 mak ammo cause the makarov guys bought it all up in the Mak craze that took place a few years back.

I think the CZ82 is the hottest buy on the planet for a surplus military pistol. There awesome quality shooters too. I like the double action on the first shot too. No need to carry it c'd and locked. The CZ75/85 and the CZ83's are awesome pistols too one of the best out there.

K98 Brazil action and bolt less cocking piece and ejecter. Those came out of the parts drawer. Now looking for inexpensive barrel (270?).

Just another Mosin Nagant 1891/30.

But I gave one of the MN 1891/30's away to a Russian engineer that is married to one of my wife's friends. He was like a kid with a new bicycle. He had just bought as his first gun ever, a CZ75, and this was his first rifle. He said that he had always seen these rifles in the movies when he was growing up in the USSR but never saw one much less be allowed to handle one. The bottom line is that he now wants to goto the WMA here in Texas starting this spring to shoot pigs and coyotes. He is really excited about pig hunting since hunting was restricted to only party officials when he was growing up in the USSR. And boar(vepr) hunting was only for the elite to do. Looks like I'm going to get a lot more than I gave for that Christmas present.

Guys/gals the rumor mill has it the supply of mosins is starting to run low "finally"......
I been wondering if the russian mosins or the yugo sks which one would run out first.
I think its the beginning of another ammo shortage again. The suppliers did say the prices will increase in 2012.

Right now is the time to invest into the mosins before they dryup and the prices hit $250 to $300. The round receiver, the hex receiver and the laminated 91/30's make a great set to have. I wonder if we'll see anymore 91/59's or M38's again too. There due soon every so often they seem to pop up.
I've always said it these make a great hunting first rifle and an affordable game getter. Think about the cost of one mosin, a box of 203gr soft point ammo and a hunting license and a new hunter is in the woods hunting for an unbelieveable cost. CZY

I picked up another m44 mosin today, price was way too good to refuse. That takes me up to 2 m44,a 91/59 and a 91/30 i cut down.

I got a new Yugo 48, with teak stock, still in cosmoline for $125, and bought a 98 Turk, made in 1938, German proofs on bolt and action, with turkish walnut military stock for $75 at a yard sale. I thought the barrel looked rough, but was grease still in it shoots great about 2" with battle sights at 80 yards of the back porch.

Last purchase was a VZ-58 in 7.62x39, a CZ-82 (liked it so well I bought another), and a 1895 Nagant Revolver. yahoo. Now to get a P-64 when the cash is saved up.

Where do you find a deal like that?

Would like some sort of 98 Mauser-ish design at some point in the 7.92 ("8mm") at some point. Seeing as how the German 98's have gone way up, the alternatives like the 48's, vz24's etc. are are on my radar. A 48 or 48A would be just fine if it's a pristine one, as I'd like an accurate one. The closer to NIB as you describe the better, of course.

Flmason: koger got his at a yard sale, and what a lucky find. I don't know of any NIB 98 Mausers, except for the new Remingtons (what are the model #s, 798??) that are made at the Zastava plant. However, I believe you can still get a new Mitchell's Mauser,one they call a authentic 98 that I believe are new production. They look new and are sold as new and they may even be made at the same plant.......

Was definitely aware of the Zastavas. But near as I can tell Mitchell is the only importer. I seem to read a lot of bad press about them though. "Deceptive marketing practices" and such. Though I guess that's basically the history of all advertizing...it's *never* "as seen on TV" LOL!

Will definitely do the research on the 798. Basically wish I could bet a 98 that was in 30-06, LOL! I know... Springfield. But a *good* 98 or Springfield may be out of budget. Basically debating some of the "lesser" 98 types vrs. just a budget new 30-06. Would definitely like to see a Zastava. Abarring any technical reason not to have one, seems like a good way to go. Perhaps worth a few extra $$$ to me, as I tend to prefer the military trim to the sporter trim, but will admit, 70's, 700's and similar do handle very nicely, much better. Granted, by design.

A chinese type 53 mosin nagant was placed in layaway today . laminated stock ,bayonete . these are type 44 copys made in the 50s.

Mannlicher-Steyr M95 Romanian 1934 refurb. Very nice rifle with cosmoline from hell. Just when you think you got it all, you shoot it and more oozes out.

Someday I will find a CZ98 Chek Mauser clone.

'43 CE K98 Mauser. A mixmatch of serial numbers being an RC, and a rather nice pre- early war un-cupped stock. Had to buy a sight hood, sling and cleaning rod. Still need to get a set of capture screws for the receiver to make it complete. It's functional and a proper piece for the WW2 re-enactments I do, but I'm going to see how it shoots. I just cannot own a weapon without seeing how it groups.

Im not what youd say living in the deep Alaskan Bush, Im at the Jumping off point for the NorthWest Arctic Region.
Well over 560 air miles away from the large Urban Centers of Anchorage and Fairbanks.

The last 2 Military Rifles weren't purchased, they were free.

Freebie #1 wasn'ta C&R but a T-series 1891Argentine sporterized in 1974 in 7.65x53 all I had to do was fill out the BATF Form 4473 from the local pawn shop, seems it was part of a batch of guns a gal brought in to trade off, her pa had passed away and left them to her.
it was the ugly duckling of the bunch and the dealer wanted it gone in a bad way, williams receiver rear and ramp front and a cherry M1907 sling (had a busted firing pin and bolt stop).

The story leading up to freebie #2 was just 4 weeks back a fella I know that regurly fixes guns and swaps em wanted me to come look at a Mosin.
It was a Polish M-44carbine that looked really nice to me, Id brought him a box of S&B FMJ and a couple stripper strips, All was fine with the world to go shooting.............till we looked down the bore (corrosive ammo and the unknowing previouse owner) struck again the rifling was a interrupted thread!!

2 weeks after the DOA M-44 (cutie) Gun Dude stopped by and said he had a mauser for me.
3 days after that I had Freebie #2 a 75% Guardia Civil 1916 in 7.62 Nato, all matching serial numbers.
as part the out the door deal he tossed in a fixer upper Remington 522 that nees to be reassembled correctly and have a mag(missing) to shoot it.

Hey everybody! Still new here but i've got some military rifles. The last one I bought is a1940k kale mauser. I saw two in my lps.. The one I wanted was gone the next day and I wasn't planning on getting this one. I didn't have any money anyway. After looking it up I sold two air grinders to a guy at work and rushed down there right before they closed. Put it on layaway and two Weeks later it was mine. I paid a whole 135.99.
