Author Topic: Need Savage 24 help (Read 1037 times)

A friend of mine has an old Savage 24 22LR over 410 that needs a new selector lever, possibly more, but that's not the hard part. The hard part is finding which of the Savage 24 models listed at Numrich Gun Parts is his. I can't ramble off everything about it, but could someone tell us how to tell which model this is, and on which models this part would be interchangeable?

I certainly can't be definitive but maybe I can help.

Model number should be on the barrel.

IF it is the standard wood stocked version it is likely just a Model 24 or maybe 24D. Within the 24D group I do not recall just what all of those other letters mean.

What type selector does it have? the one on the hammer or on the side?

It is indeed wood stocked. And the selector is on the side. It's a little old.

Hope to bit by bit work towards an answer.

I have a Savage 24V-A but it is probably a newer gun....it has a fancy wood stock with grip cap and butt stock with white line spacers...the model number on mine is on the right hand side of reciever at the bottom....other than that I guess I am of no help....WW1

I have that same rifle. It belonged to my grandmother. The gun is at least 50 years old. I called e-gunparts and they got me the right kit. If you want I can look on my gun tonight to see the model #. I would be willin to bet the kit I got for mine will fit yours. Will post the model # tommorrow.

I'd be happy to learn everything I can, but I ordered the selector kit for my friend with a certain level of confidence that it was the right one. We ordered the one for the earliest model. When we get together we'll know 100% for sure.
