No, I don't think so.  Cost and quality wise, you'd be better off having a local gunsmith do it for you, especially if you consider shipping costs, insurance, time lost, etc.  The current open sights aren't the best in the west.  There's a lot of info here and the FAQs on sights.  It shouldn't be difficult to find out what you'll need.

Locally here a 'smith gets about $15 per hole to drill & tap; Williams open rear will take two, a shorty ramp one, so you are at $45 + the sights, but no shipping the barrel. Dovetailing can be done but if you ever decide to take the sights off you have a big hole (or two) to put fillers into. Screw holes are just so much 'cleaner' IMHO.
Unless you are very skilled or very lucky, do not try to do this youself even with a drill press (if you dont know what I mean by skilled, you probably arent, no insult intended tho) and never even consider to try it freehand.

H&R has installed sights before, they used to charge $47, but charge much more now, I'm sure. Maybe Brian will know how much they will charge, but as has been said, a local smith may be a better choice. $20-$40 a hole has been mentioned before, $15 a hole is cheap.

You should be able to use the scope base holes for the rear sight so you just need one hole for front

For a 'receiver' peep, yes SE, but for an open sporting rear most of us need to get it further up the barrel. I was interpreting him as wanting 'open sights' vs  'iron sights' which would include peeps made of several materials nowdays.
I would do the peep myself, too.

I use a WGRS rear sight and a Remington 700 front sight on my Handi's. I'll try to get a pic of my maxi for you.

FWIW, H&R's old charge of $47 included the sights.  ;)

I looked up several gunsmith price lists, Wayne charges $10 per hole, but he also charges a $30 setup fee, I found lots that charged $20 per hole and some that charge $25 and $30.

Also, "iron sights" would include peep sights, but the topic of this thread is open sights which don't include peep sights by most folks, myself included.  ;)
