Any movie car really grab ya? As a teen I saw the movie Two Lane Black Top with singer/song writer James Taylor. It sparked a love for 55 Chevy's to the extent that I've owned three. Here's the car from that movie;

Then there came along the movie California Kid with Martin Sheen and Vic Morrow.
I'm still drooling over this car!

Then there was Sylvester Stalone's 1950 Merc in Cobra! Stalone designed the car himself. In 94 the car was stolen from Stalone garage and he discovered it for sale at an auction 15 years later. It was put there by some movie company that supplied cars for movies. They even had the audacity to use his name to promote the sale! Though the car had been reported as stolen they refused to give it back. Stalone sued them big time! An extra 3 million just for illegal use of his name

Do TV cars count? In 1955 I was impressed by the Lincoln Futura. I thought that was the most impressive car I had ever seen. Then Ford sold it to Barris and he turned it into the Batmobile.

Then I saw Illya Kuryakin (David McCallum (Ducky) Man from UNCLE) driving a Ford AC Cobra. I fell in love with that car, and to this day I want one. Just a little too steep for my budget. I did buy a Berkley in 1967, simply because it looked like a scaled down Cobra.

Then there is the DeLorean from Back To The Future. When DeLorean went bankrupt in 1982 or 83 a friend of my wife had one. He offered it to me for $16.000 and dumb me turned it down. Then the movie came out.

But the top of them all is the Ford GT-40. I watched the tape of the Le Mans race where Ford beat Enzo 1,2,and 3. Then I saw it in the movie Le Mans just before I left California in 1971. In 1973 I was working as a courier for one of the Casinos in Las Vegas and one of the managers at the casino had one. The car I drove regulerly to LA got wrecked by another driver, and they had a rush-rush to get to LA. The manager decided to take it himself, and took me along to handle handle the transaction since they were expecting my face. After the drop on the way back to Vegas he let me drive the GT-40. Uncomfortable to get into or out of, but gosh did it handle like a race car. That car flew up the mountain East of Barstow.

I liked James Bond's Aston Martin - I need the ordinance for out on the Beltway. There was a cult movie from the hippie era called Zabriske Point or something - I think a real place in Death Valley. The chick had about a '49 Buick fastback - straight eight, three on the tree. For some reason I want one to this day. There was something on cable, I think one of the old movie theater serials, really low budget. The guy is a Texas Ranger with a Mexican sidekick, apparently fighting Nazi spies. They do get in some jams - locked in a gas chamber, tied up in the trunk of a car and pushed over a cliff. Guess who saves them? The girl reporter. She drives about a '40 Lincoln convertible. What a sled. Probably weighs as much as a medium tank. I want that car.

My first choice? McQueen's Mustang, of course. If I'd been the one to set it up,though, I'd have gone with a small block instead of the 390... waaaay to much weigh over the front wheels. Too bad the 351W wasn't avail that year.

2nd choice? Bandit's '77 T/A. If he'd only gotten the 78, he could have had the WS6 w/4spd 400...

Yeah, one of the hit men in Bullitt packs a sawed off Winchester 97. He uses it on the witness in the beginning.

I can't find anything on that so I guess it's still in the courts. You'd think something would have happened by now though.

The California Kid 34 Ford is probably my favorite as far as looks go ,but they should have left the Flathead under the hood instead of the 302.
Like the yellow 32 deuce in American Graffiti which had been built by a deviate who stuffed a 327 Chevy in it.
Don't get me wrong a small block Chevys and Fords have their place but between the frame rails of a pre war classic Ford is not that place.

The original Cooter has a shop here in Branson. He has one of the General Lee's and Sheriff Roscoe's police cruiser sitting out front. My son has always been a fan and has a t-shirt with the most of the original casts autographs on it.

Funny how I just got home form the universal studios tour yest. Ate at Mels Diner and saw the Like cars from American Graffiti. Love the T-bird and yellow Rod.

Yeah... but if you're gonna go semi-modern, at least make it a Ford small block. A Windsor is lighter and easier to work on than a Chevy SB, anyhows...

I'm not sure there is any wrong place for a 327 Chevy. My first car was a '68 Chevelle with 327, 4 barrel, headers and Powerglide trans. I would have preferred a 4 speed, but I will say that at 60 mph, it would break the tires loose when hitting passing gear (about the only good thing for a two speed automatic).

Friend of mine had a 327 4 bl Stingray, '67 if I recall. He asked me to open it up since he didn't trust himself. First car I ever had over 100, and it wanted to keep going.

Looks like a custom job. Maybe high beam was a death ray.
