What kind of accuracy are you getting with your rig? I have been intrigued by the rifled slug barrels for a while now but never got around to trying them.

With Lightfield 2 3/4" hybreds my best 3-shot group (100yds) is 1.5".  I really have to do everything right...muzzle flip is the worst problem I've had to overcome.  I've got it right where I want it, and opening day is next week, so I'll leave it alone until after the season.  Then I plan on adding some lead shot to both the fore-arm and the stock to try and counter some of the recoil/muzzle-flip issues.  I've done most of the bells and whistles to it (trigger job, fore-arm "floated", hinge pin, different springs, etc).  My dream of a minute-of-angle shotgun still eludes me, though.
I'll keep trying.

Had a couple good hunts! The 3 deer were at a friends farm under a management program the state has that allows more than one doe per day. I shot 3 Friday evening in about an hours time. It was a blast!

Went out to my farm this evening and shot a doe to get processed for a friend of my moms as an early Christmas gift!

I am really growing fond of my 35 Whelen! Ol Black Betty hasn't let me down yet!

Have owned a lot of Contenders thru the years from 22 LR up to 45-70. Got into Encores for the added strength and now just into stainless Encores. My all time favorite is this little guy I call my squirrel gun. I wanted a honest to goodness 45 long colt barrel to be a companion to my revolvers so I had MGM make me a 20 incher. It loves the 250 gr XTP's over a good dose of Lilgun. The Bushnell Elite 3200 3x9x40 helps these old eyes be more accurate and gives the local whitetails a hard time..

Cute little setup, wish we could do that here in the US without making a SBR.

I forgot about you guys not being able to install the shorter barrels = one of the very few firearms laws that we Canadians have to deal with that are better than yours.

Overall length of a long gun has to be longer than 26.5" though and here in British Columbia we cannot hunt with a barrel shorter than 12"...

I've been thinking about getting a 14" - 16" barrel in 45-70 and load it with my Beartooth 425gr Piledriver Jr/H322 loads or maybe Beartooths new 350gr Piledriver lite...

Here is another part of our goofy firearms laws we can only have a barrel shorter than 18.5" if the barrel was manufactuured that way we cannot have a gunsmith cut a longer barrel to the shorter lengths that would be breaking the law.

MGM made my 14" 45 Colt barrel for me = legal...

Well, I finally took a good picture, so I felt that I should share.  It is a .308 Marlin that was rechambered by MGM to .300 Weatherby Magnum.  Revolution stock - a bit bright, but elk dont see red anyway, and topped with a leupole 4x14 cds scope.  Still working up a load, but at about an inch after my first try.

Which stock do you like better the thumb hole or high combed one?
I have been looking at both and having never seen one in person I'm having a hard time deciding which to buy.

Got my Encore .270 back in 2001. Won it in a contest along with the Bushnell Elite 3200 scope on it.

Just bought a .50 barrel for it. Came in the mail yesterday. Yet to mount a scope.

and I do not like the thumbhole stocks very much at all this is only due to having to pull my thumb out of the stock to cock the hammer then having to reinsert it into the thumb hole before I can aim/fire takes way to long as far as I am concerned.

Now if I am just sitting there in a stand or shooting off of the bench it isn't much of an issue but I am a still hunter before any other style so when I need to take a shot I want/need to be able to cock the hammer/aim/shoot as quickly as possible.

I have at least 7 or 8 standard style stocks and only 1 thumbhole stock.

I always wanted a thumbhole stock and finaly got one on a CVA Optima Pro. To be honest it was more for looks than practicality. I know they claim it gives you a better grip but I realy don't see it. I get just as good a grip on my Encore with a standard stock.

I prefer the thumb hole stock while I run and gun Turkey hunt. I can grip it with one hand and have full control as I crawl, slither and roll into position. I believe I could one hand shoot my 20 ga with it. Maybe I'll try this spring while I pattern some new Turkey loads just to see.

Camp Cook,

I don't see removing my thumb as an issue but I generally have time as I am setting up on a bird.

Thanks, guys. I was using Adobe Photoshop 5.0LE for text and Corel ProPhoto2 for everything else. I say "was" because my computer crashed a few days ago, and right now I am unable to salvage either of those. I have a file of Corel saved, but unless I can find my original purchase key, I don't think it will let me re-load onto another unit. I have my Adobe CD but need to find the original case for the serial #, too, as it will not let me load it otherwise. I also lost all of my e-mail contact info

That is a factory stock set painted with some textured paint that I had laying around.  I was very pleased with how it turned out.
