It would be interesting to see what the insides looked like after heavy use and no lube. You did not say which Mk. you had as they have differences. Some options to look into, see the many videos on the Ruger with You Tube concerning working on these, watch the American Gun Institute gunsmithing DVD, or send it to Ruger. Perhaps a local gunsmith might know something about this gun.
After working on my Ruger and seeing the videos they can be involved in putting them back together and there are multiple parts inside, springs, etc. I keep my DVD handy as I might do a trigger job on both of mine down the road. My main complaint about the AGI DVD is they don't do a good job in explaining how to put a Mk. 3 back together right, there is 2 tilts of the pistol vertically and pressing the trigger several times, as well as watching the hammer position. I had to use the Ruger owner's manual to put mine back together right.
