Steel shot for doves

I just read a newspaper article which stated that steel shot will be required for dove hunting in Iowa. Apparently Gov. Brandstad objected but the Natural Resource Commision (NRC) has the say on this subject. I don't know if I will even hunt them. The cheapest ammo for me is probably steel shot for my Ithaca Mag-10 automatic (10-gauge Magnum) and I don't know if there is a suitable steel shot size in 10-gauge. My other 10-ga is a side-by-side double as are my two 12-ga shotguns. For them I would have to use shells with bismuth shot which is very expensive! How do we get these NRC guys to listen to sportsmen intead of anti-hunters?

Steel Shot rule has been removed, we are allowed to use lead for now.. Argument was that the Doves were "migratory" therefore restricted to steel or other non-toxic. It was a blatent try to discourage dove hunting as much as possible. I am anxious to try to bag a few with my ol muzzle guns. It would have crimped my shooting if I had had to use a non-tox shot.

45-70gov - Even back when I thought I was an average middle-of-the-road person (an independent), I had never voted for a Democrat. Some time during the past 30 years I figured out I was really a conservative, or at least a libertarian. Anyway, I never voted for the antihunters or those who appointed them. - DON

I don't vote Democrat and I'm also not a single issue guy, but a Democrat state senator was one pushing the dove hunting bill in the first place.
