My Thread Got Deleted?

Normally, when a thread gets deleted, isn't there an pm or something to let someone know why?

That's right. Perhaps you should read the Terms of Use. I let you announce that your book was published and then you start trying to sell them without a single discussion with me about it. Not happening.

That's a commercial venture ie a business which you must pay to advertise.

So, you can tell people you have a book out but you can't tell them how to get it?  I'm not trying to be difficult, I have a book - print on demand, so I didn't have to buy a couple of thousand.  Kind of an obscure subject, I don't think the very reasonable $200 deal would work for me.  I long ago gave up any hope of making money on it, but it would be great if a few people went online to get one.

Paying 200 dollars to make 50 is a very Democratic ideal.

I understand. Had you asked up front you might have been granted permission to do it as the rules say to do. I'm generally fairly easy to talk into something like that up front if it's not a serious money maker but am not very forgiving of rules infractions after the fact.

Same for folks setting up new sites. Generally if they ask I allow them to make a post to let folks know. If they just make a post to hype their site without asking as the TOS say they won't be talking about it here.

I'm not a believer in the old saying of better to ask forgiveness than to seek permission. I'm just the opposite.

Your site, your rules.  But I believe you have the old saying reversed.  "It's better to ask permission, than it is forgiveness."

The old phrase is thought to be by Grace Hopper, although she got it backwards when applied to GBO rules.  ;)
