Storage food at wally world

  Our local Wal-Mart is now carrying Augason Farms products. Sealed #10 cans of powdered eggs, margarine powder, freeze dried veggies, flour, whole meal variety packs, as well as buckets of wheat,oats, etc, etc. Some items have a advertised shelf life of up to twenty five years.  Augason Farms is headquartered in Utah. I don't know if they provide to the LDS members or not but those folks have a pretty good handle on storage foods and prepping. Anyway, just a heads up for my fellow preppers. Check it out, the prices seem resonable enough to me.
   My case in point about prepping in general lies with personal experience. Over the years, I have had to have back surgery, and later on a broken/dislocated wrist. Both time yielded weeks of not working. It was very comforting to know that my family had the food to get by already in the pantry. We did not ever have to decide if we were to make a house payment, buy gas, or keep the lights on, instead of grocery shopping.  Take care all.

Sorry.  This was in a east Vancouver,WA store (192nd st).
 
I don't know if all the stores are, or have started carrying this or not. The one closest to me just started a few weeks ago so it may take some time if all the stores are slated to offer this product. I am hoping all the stores will carry items like these. Nothing wrong with a full pantry.  My youngest daughter married into a LDS family and I am impressed with their thoughts on prepping. Beans,bread, and soups may not be living large, but it sure beats  the alternative.

what department do we keep an eye on?
every trip to the store, I add to our stash.  I get the cans that have pop-top lids.  they're showing up on more and more types of food.

Hi Friends
 
Is any of the food some of the "Wise food" packages. It has a 25 year shelf life. I have ask but can't locate anyone who has acturally eaten any of this product?

I've heard from Morman friends, that the dehydrated foods can cause stomach problems like diarrea or constipation, if you don't supplement it with fresh veggies or fresh foods of some type.  You have to drink lots of water when eating a lot of it.  It is good for long term society breakdown, but you really need to have a vegetable garden and maybe some supplemented fresh meat from hunting or fishing.  You also need a vitamen supply because dehydrated foods might loose a lot of vitamens over a long period of time.

for vegies, sprouts can help a lot for the short term with a large enough supply and variety of viable seed. ear

Yes, dried food, lots of it at once can very well cause problems until your body adjusts. Remember to have vitamin and other supliments/remedies in your stores. As well the addage of buy and store what you eat goes a long ways. Preparing meals from your storage food not only allows you to keep your store fresh and rotated without throwing away expired food, but lets you try out recipes using it, and letting your family's response help dictate what gets stored. As well as avoiding stomach "problems" in the future ( store an AD as well as other remedies).
 
Blind Ear, +1 on the sprouts for the fresh veggie.  Your soup mixes, dried beans,all provide fresh sprouts and can be had year 'round.
