RED DOT SCOPES

I have a Diana RWS model 34,in .22 Cal, can anyone offer suggestions for a Red Dot?? Thks Alex

The recoil characteristics of spring air guns are noted for being hard on optics not designed for them.  I am not sure what tube type red dots will stand up to this recoil.  A holographic type sight like the Burris fastfire might do well do to the lack of tube type multiple lenses.  I know the one mounted on my .45 1911 slide has stood up to over 1000 rounds without issue.  I would suggest contacting the manufacturer of any sight you are considering R/E its suitability.

If you intend any precision shooting I recommend against any dot type sight.  However if you must have one, a Halo sight would be the most likely to stand up to the abuse a springer will dish out.

  This is one of my favorite Red Dots. It has a 3 mil dot. It is accurate enough for any shooting that I do. On one of my Crosman Phantoms I managed to keep 10 pellets at 30 yards in a group that was about 7/8ths of an inch. This dotter has held up to thousands of shots on two different guns.

Have 2 tasco 30 BD with intergal airgun mount on my Diasy 747 and my old ( 43 yrs) Crosman 760. I use the Crosman bases ( i beleive # 457) to attached to the round barrel contours. Both are piston types not spring. Red Dot is brighter than a Millet( Bushnell) red dot at more than $80. Go to"  evil" Walley World ( Wal mart) for $32 pick one up Also has standard mount.

That's good shootin' for the range, but at 70 yards the dot is just too big, and allows too much error.  At 50 yards (the max hunting range I use) the red dot sights I have tried are just too inconsistent.

Thanks for all the replies, I am looking for something, probably under 30 yards, mostly trying to contol those tree critters...My 1935 Mod 70, .22 Hornet will take care of the long range stuff.....Alex

   I don't hunt and like I said, it works fine for my uses. At 50 yards, no beer can is safe.

Picked up an older Tasco Pro Point and put it on my Nitro 1100XL. Works great. Has a much smaller dot than the newer ones. Any skwerl or chipmunk is a goner out to 30yds or more. Time will tell how it holds up.

I have several red dots on several different firearms. Too get better acurasy I sight in using the top edge of the dot and don't cover the target, works well. My best is on a Ruger mkII Target Mod and is deadly. As far as red dots on a spring piston rifle don't have a clue. lol
