After market stocks for M-92 carbines
« on: July 29, 2011, 02:15:24 PM »
I have several M-92 clones with curved hard plastic/steel butt plates. I had surgery on my shooting shoulder a while back and I would like to convert the stocks to a design with a softer  'shotgun style' butt plate design, preferably one designed to use a straight cut stock. Can anyone suggest any sources?

I ordered a replacement stock for the 454 for one of mine.  That one comes with a recoil pad mounted, put it on my 44 mag, took that stock and put it on the 357 with 24" Octagon barrel that had the steel cresent butt plate.  That one just didn't fit my shoulder.  I also have 2 of the 454 Casulls and the recoil pad works well enough.  DP

I too have a bad sholder [motar cycle wreck],my 454 came with a pad also, my 44 has the metal cressent but plate that for some reason hurts my sholder to much so I put a limb saver slip on pad and it works pretty good, I can shoot my 444 and 454 no problem guss its the way it recoils.

If the existing LOP suits you, simply obtain a shotgun-type recoil pad, remove the offending buttplate, shorten the stock an amount equal to the thickness of the recoil pad, screw it on and sand down the edges to fit.

Also, since Model 92 & 94 tangs are identical, a replacment stock for a Model 94 (Cabela's, Numrich, others) can also be installed/shortened/padded.

If you get a 94 stock to use on a Rossi 92 you will have to do some inletting for the top tang as the Rossi has a different shape than the Winnie.
