Nice .45 Colt Handi rifle
« on: July 29, 2011, 03:14:21 PM »
My favorite gun shop has a new .45 Colt handi rifle.  I was planning to buy it but I have too many irons in the fire.  Anyway it's at Al's Gun Shop in Forest Grove, OR.  It's supposed to be a limited edition with nicer but I don't really remember...  Anyway he's asking $285 for it.

I paid a little less for my standard version from the owner.  Without a scope or mount.  So maybe it's worth it as it's a 'limited' version, especially from a store.  I don't think they're very available anymore.  It's my best looking factory Handi and didn't get changed except reaming to .454 for better accuracy.

I'm planning a trip out that way next week if anybody has an questions about it.

I just bought a Colt revolver and I still need a scope for my .44 Handi.  By the time I catch up with these 2 purchases, it'll be hunting season and I need new boots and some other hunting stuff...  Anyway if you're wondering why I'm not bragging about my next new Handi, This is why.

I was at the gun shop making a payment on my Colt revolver and I guess I didn't look at it all that well last time.  This rifle is an odd one as far as I know.

It has a beaver tail walnut stock and the frame has the same finish as the Buffalo Carbine.  For all practical purposes it's a .45 Colt Buffalo Carbine.

I've spent too much on guns this year to even think about it but I don't shoot well with beaver-tail stocks anyway.   I suppose I've talked myself out of getting it...

I sold one of my Type 99 Arisaka rifles and I'm thinking hard about picking this one up.  The only problem with it is, I don't like the beaver tail stock.  It's really a shame too since it has the nicest wood I've ever seen on a Handi...

Like the add says,'Just Do It'.
They dont make them anymore and you will be able to 'dispose' of it here if you dont like it. You will also be able to buy or swap the CR stocks (but it isnt a 'beavertail' at all, they are round like a canoe paddle), for your preference here too, but I would hang onto the originals myself.

I hadn't scored a killer deal on my .44 mag Handi, we wouldn't be having this discussion.  I'm holding out for a TC Contender but I may change my mind and pick it up...

Once again I had the chance to get it and got something else.  Another revolver followed me home, a .44 mag to be a companion to my .44 carbine...

I also noticed a note on it that I didn't see before.  Apparently I was wrong and it's a used rifle but it's sure looks like new...  It's to close to my .44 to be worth it to me.   Anyway this is my last post on the subject...
