Hey b44mag, save yourself the postage. Take them to a local knife shop. For a reasonable rate they can put a razor shaving edge on them for ya. scout4<><

Or get a lansky sharpener, slow but fool proof and darn sharp.

Most local meat markets will sharpen them for you.

Kinda late to the party, but I agree, do it yourself, get yourself a good stone. (CK EBay!) and learn how to use it!  Its easy once you get the knack, its all about maintaining consistent and proper angles! A simple plastic wedge giving proper angle can help guide you when your starting out.

This little doohickey can be a life saver if your really "anglerally" challenged. http://www.ebay.com/itm/Razor-Edge-Knife-Sharpening-Angle-Guide-Small-/310332813571?pt=LH_DefaultDomain_0&hash=item484146f103

I put a razor edge on a dozen bear tips the other day in about 15 minutes with a hard Arkansas stone and some light oil. (They had a edge but where not really sharp.)

Good luck,

Use a new Grobet file or other top quality mill Bastard file. 10" preferred here. Proceed to set your desired angle forming a burr. Flip and use the same number of strokes on the other edge. make sure you form the burr! Next use a stone or diamond hone and remove the burr by alternating strokes using light pressure. Once sharp , use a strop (leather, cardboard, hardwood0 to set the edge to its final sharpness.

I use a file when creating an edge just as you discribe. I also found that a bench mounted 1" belt sander with a motor you can get cheap at places like Harbor Freight works great too.
I remember my father sitting on the porch at deer camp with his hunting arrows and a file... fond memories...
