PT-58 S Question
« on: August 01, 2011, 04:43:10 AM »
Hi all, It has been a long time since I've posted on GBO (mostly on H&R sub forum)....I had open heart surgery 9 weeks ago with two pevious heart cath procedures directly preceeding, all this was done to repair a couple defects because my symptoms were getting quite bad and dangerous. Anyway, so far so good other than recovery is slow and taking too long!
Now to my question: I have a Taurus PT58 S I bought years ago for my wife. Wisconsin will finally allow concealed carry Nov.1 and I would like to get a decent holster for this gun. I recently purchased a Galco FLETCH OWB holster for my PT99, but I would also like to get a nice fitted OWB holster for the PT58. There really are only one or two holsters I found made to fit the PT58 and they are NOT the style I want. I could go custom made but I do not want to spend that much.
My question is: Is the PT58 a basic clone of another gun? I may have read somewhere at one time that it may be a close copy of the Beretta 84...but the 84 has a slightly smaller slide. I also heard the 58 may be very close to the Walther99. This is all hear-say and I need someone "in the know" to give me the true facts.
Thanks for reading this and I'm looking forward to your responses.
P.S. I know there are other style holsters than OWB. Holsters are very much a personal choice, I personally like the OWB...works well for me and my body type. Whatever holster I decide on for the PT58, I will still need to know what the 58 is closest to in size and design. I will NOT buy a universal holster and my holsters will be nothing but LEATHER!
