Swiss K31 builds off the back burner
« on: August 03, 2011, 10:57:38 AM »
I have a few extra swiss k31 rifles i purchased and been thinking of doing three builds but i narrowed it down to just two builds.  I figured one swiss k31 with the drill and tap scopemount and the clamp on muzzle brake / dampener.  I'm not sure yet about mounting a bipod on it or not.  I already have the drill/tap scopemount and the clamp on muzzle brake arrived here yesterday, there all from swiss products.  In thinking about my second swiss k31 build i'd like a set of diopter sights with a thread on muzzle brake.  I figure these two would be interesting rifles to shoot using the swiss gp11 ammo.  I've always wanted a swede mauser with the diopter sights but there just too expensive plus they don't seen to come with all the front sight plates.  I'll settle for the swiss k31 with the micro adjustable peep sights.

Then i have one more build which will be a swede scoped 6,5mm mauser.  My bolt action small ring mauser is on the back burner because i can't deciede if i want to install a new barrel in 7,62x39 or use the chamber adapter.

So far i built;
 (all from parts guns pieced together)
1.German 98k 8mm mauser scoped.  (german sniper look a like)
2.Chilean 93 7mm mauser scoped. (29" barrel)
3.Finnish mosin 91/30 w/nagant scopemount.

I figure someday me and my sons will have a shoot off between them all.     Bill

the K31 and the older Swiss rifles tease me, but I have never bought one.

I think that the 7.62x39 Mauser build would be sweet.  I just can't find a short chambered barrel for one.

I'm debating wether to change out the barrel on my FN small ring mauser or use a chamber adapter.  This will be scoped too for my grandsons first hunting rifle.  I'm afraid after i'm long gone the chamber adapter may come out.  I need to wait and get a new barrel for it.

I got all the parts for my swiss k31 scope build now.  I have the drill & tap scopemount and the clamp on muzzle brake.  I'm just not sure of the scope i want to use yet. Cheap or expensive.  I have had cheap scopes ruin hunting trips already. I read the swiss k31 is kicking butt at camp perry already.
