527 .223 Kevlar ammo ?s
« on: August 04, 2011, 02:46:42 AM »
Should get my NIB 527 next week. My 1-8" AR shoots 75gr BTHPs great at 300yds. Have any of you shot these out of your 1-9" CZ? How did they work?

Not sure what twist my 527 American is. it's about 6 years old. Anyways, I got a box of Hornady 69grs once and proceeded to shoot about a 6" group. Gave them to a friend that has a Rock River twisted to 7 or 8, I think. And I stayed with the 55gr. & under crowd.

The older 527 .223s (all except the Varmint Kevlar) used to have a 1:12" twist which was much better for the lighter bullets. All of the Varmint Kevlar .223s (and some of the newer, wood stocked 223s?) are now 1:9" which is a better "all-around" twist for the caliber.

I've shot 70 gr. out of a 1 in 9 before with good accuracy.  Not the best, but good enough for my purposes.  About 1" at 100.

Picked up some 60gr V-Max. Hopefully they will work for both.
