I'm back again

. This might be better placed in reloading I don't know. I'm looking at a pretty one in SS for $600 if it matters.

Since its intro I have thought this was a great idea, no really, A little big round if you will. A couple more in the cylinder. Hot rounds are touching deer killing territory, light ones are easy plinkers or grouse killers. Coyotes, dispatching wounded big game, no troubles. Expensive to run, but really how much shooting do I really do.

I have heard many arguements against, .22, .22mag, and .38/.357 being notable. I'm not a trapper so .22 honestly is a toy in my world. The .38/.357 are too much for what I foresee, or are they.

Now to the rest of my dimentia. Is it bad to run a mix of .32H&R, and the .327 mag? Would a load using Trailboss in a .327 mag be a better idea? Is the fact this might well be an orphan round be a concern? I do reload but am not what you would call experienced by any stretch. The odd loading is a concern for me, text book "factory loads" don't bother me.

Is there a chance I was kicked in the head by a cow?

E.Q., I feel your pain.......sometimes just looking at the menu I have too many choices.
Get the 357 and load 38Spl level loads for 'everyday' and keep a few real mag loads, well, just because.
FWIW, Ive had 32S&W, 32 S&W Long, and 32-20, although they are 'fun' I have mostly 38/357 revolvers as the step up from the 22s. Of course, I have the 45C too, but for what I do it is a hold out to nostalgia.
If I get lazy or desperate I can buy 38s pretty cheap. Try that with the 32s.
My 50th Ruger 357 is a very nice piece.

I agree 100% with gcrank. I've had all the others. Not the 327 specifically, but I had a 32 H&R, and the big bores too, but when i'ts all said and done I haven't kept any handguns except for 357's and a few 22's.

I thought the single six in 32 H&R would be the cat's meow, and I finally got one and gave it a whirl. Turned out the ballistics were not that great, but the real bummer was I couldn't shoot it very well. I would think that a blackhawk in 327 would be just a wanna be 357. Same size and weight as a 357, and getting about the same velocities, but still just a little brother.

I think the 38/357 is about the perfect match for a nearly perfect size handgun. The guns are small enough to carry, but big enough to shoot well. The round is most of all versatile, You can shoot loads that range from cat sneezes to something that is statistically about a perfect manstopper.

I have no intention of deer hunting with it. Just pointing out it is a hot load, and not an .32 H&R.

Cause I want to is the bottom line, I am a bit of a contrarian by nature. Over the years it has bit me in the butt about 60% of the time I suppose. When I hit on those unfound treasures though, it seems worth the experimentation. I want to avoid that 60% thing more often though make it a nice honest 50%

What I'm really hoping is that the fellow I spoke with saturday will buy one of the herd and allow me the cash to get this thing and be done with the wondering.

Past that I really would like someone to come along and tell me it's the best gun they have ever owned in the finest chambering ever concieved. Furthermore, I would be a fool to let this slip out of my reach.

I'm not really getting that here.

I need me some enablers.

Not a black Hawk but a Ruger anyways. I met a local fella that aquired a 327 mag and he wouldn't part with it for a substantial profit

I have a SP101 in 327 FM Its a nice round . will it kill a deer sure so will a 22 lr . Its all about shot placement. Would I hunt deer with mine nope , I have much better choices. If I could only own one and the choices were 357 or 327 after alot of soul serching it would be the 357. It can do bigger and better things , more factory loads ,more bullet options from round balls doing 22 lr duty to 200 gr taking deer. The BH has a longer bbl and mo bullets on board in the 327. not a bad thing. I like the 327 so this is not a bash job, the 327 depending on ammo falls somewhere between the 357 mag and a 38 spl. Some will tell you a bit more power than a 38 +P . I won't disagree again depending on ammo. Would I use mine for self defense ? only if I could not get to a 357 mag but would not feel under gunned to much if it was all I had. Just not my first choice.
I have a bunch of 32 HRM and they do fine in the gun . I have them because getting 327 FM anything was hard when they came out. If I( was looking to buy brass I would go 327 FM . I like the look of the long case and they are easier to handle for me.
So if you want one go for it know what ya got and enjoy . Oh yea they kick a lot less than a 357 mag and are a joy to shoot.

I have plenty of SD pistols, matter of fact tradeing one is the first step in getting the .327.

After consideration I came to the conclusion I would not be hunting with a pistol as a primary weapon. Therefore the bigbores stopped interesting me ... as much. The 357is still plenty powerful and seems to be overkill... if such a thing exists. A .22 a .22? gimme a break those ain't for real manly men.

What I need to do is get off'n my half moons and find someone as dumbstruck with a SIG as I am about this whole Single Action thing. I'm too stinkin' tight to trade at a reputable gun store

and the rest of my world is poorer than me it seems. About the time I get one on the line the knot frays.

I am crushed to find out I am not a manly man........guess my pink shirt gave me away; or was the nice old '70s era Colt's New frontier .22?, or my Ruger 3 screw SS?
For handgun ranges and practical accuracy I think either would still be formidable in capable hands. I know I dont want any 22s in the eye.
So....you have pleanty of SD handguns, and you arent planning on hunting with it. As I said to my daughter's suiter,"just what are your intentions, young man?"; ie, what can it do that a 22 or a 357 cant?
Not that I care one way or 'nother what you want or get, just askin' to make conversation......

An auto loader just does not look at home in the field. I already have a .22 and don't really need another. In my perfect world I would use this beauty to dispatch coyotes while I wasn't busy killing all manner of trophy class game with my trusty 1895 Marlin. Secondary uses would include putting the coup de gras on Polar bears Sitka brown bears and the occasional Cape Buffalo. Soon after my purchase Marlin would release the 1894 in .327mag offering both a coyboy model (round/ hex barrel) and a nice mounty model. This of course would lead me back here with more assinine questions.

All this questioning just about has me talked into going back to a SBH.

Finally I'm going to fess up. For some reason I just don't feel any love for the .38/.357 round. I can't explain why either. Don't care for 30-06, honestly, Corvettes are not on my top ten list of dream cars either. Could I have been kicked in the head by a cow?

Im wondering why we arent really hearing more about the caliber; it has certainly been around long enough.
Maybe it is a niche solution for a problem (gap) that doesnt really exist?

it really dosen't do anything better . in the SP101 it holds 6 instead of 5 but would 5 357 mags be better ? Its a nice gun to shoot and if you travel you can carry more shots per pound . Even a 22 mag cost less to shoot with new ammo.

Sadly that is my problem in a nutshell. i desperately want some positive feedback. Best I can get is, it's your money do with it what you want.

I'm throwing a .327 party and can't get anyone to come. I'm not going to hire clowns and dancing girls, free beer ought to be enough one would think.

If I didnt have my Colt's New Army 32-20 I wouldnt be rushing out to get a .327; Im happy with varoius .22s, 38/357s and the 45C. I could see playing with one in a rifle, a little, but I would still go from .22s to bigger bores with satisfaction. I know the stories, how the 32-20 was a fine small gamer and even varmint round, etc., etc., the .32Mag was supposed to do as well loaded up, and the .327 should be........
For me, a lite loaded 30-30 does what the .327 would do in a rifle, so I guess I wouldnt be buying one of those either.
Sorry, I just cant get revved about it, and Im usually a sucker for the odd-ball stuff.

EQ you want us to drool over a cal. that is just a fun gun like a 22 mag. It can be used for several applications but doesen't exceed in anyone application better than other guns other than when a man wants one and gets it , it makes him happy. So like most of us who have one and are happy with it just get it be happy and enjoy it .

I have the 327 Blackhawk and love it. It's definately not a round that I would pick for deer hunting but I wouldn't hesitate to drop the hammer on one if the 327 was all I had. I shot a ground hog with mine and usually they will take a bullet back in their hole from a light caliber, including a misplaced 223 but I had a body shot, took it and the hog dropped where he sat.
The best thing I like about my 327 is owning a Buckeye in 32 H&R and 32-20. The 8 shot 327 will index the 6 shot Buckeye cylinders perfectly and they shoot fine. The 327 cylinder is .010 longer than the blue Buckeye cylinders so the swap only goes one way.

I'm up for the first .327 that comes out in a lever action! I'm gonna be the enabler... you should buy it just because you're contrary and some folks have talked bad about them. You should show them a thing or two and just buy it, shoot it, show it off and brag about it. They're to old to appreciate anything new or that might fall out of their little window of approval. Buy it, buy it, buy it, buy it, buy it, buy it.... if you want it, get it. If it scratches your itch, keep it...

EQ, a shooter with a bunch of handguns is the perfect person to buy that .327. Not the gun we'd reccommend for the one gun shooter. I'm the same way, I have one gun in .32 Colt, one in .32 S&W long, 7 in .32 H&R mag and one in .327 and one in .30 Carbine. The mags, the .327 and .30 carbine are great rabbit guns. The .327 and .30C are good for mediam size game like Cayotes. Mine get a workout on the yrs. we have lots of jackrabbits, this has been a poor yr. for rabbits in this area. I'd be surprized if they make very many of the .327s so in yrs. to come they'll probably increase a lot in value. On the other hand who'd have believed in 1966 ,when i bought my .30 carbine blackhawk, that 45 yrs. later they'd still be making them. I say buy it!

I like my 327 Federal so far. I've only shot part of my first box of ammo through it, but it is a fun gun. I'd hate for it to be the gun at hand for dealing with a serious problem, but then again, I'd choose a rifle or shotgun over any handgun for that sort of thing. I like that it's made in stainless steel, and I also like that it has an 8 shot cylinder.

One problem that may have affected the Blackhawk in this caliber is that the guns seemed to go to some places, and the ammo went to others. I agree with you that the .357 Magnum is a fairly boring cartridge. Some guns make a good pairing with this caliber, but not all of them, and I've had many opportunities to buy Blackhawks in .357, but have never felt the need to do so.
