Mossberg MVP 223
« on: August 07, 2011, 05:05:45 PM »
In the past I have just not taken the Mossberg rifles serious at all, I just saw no point for me personally. I have seen some favorable reviews & I have noticed that Lloyd has seen good results w3ith some that his family shoots. So, I have been thinking maybe I have maybe been a little hard on them.

Anyway, they have introduced a rifle that has caught my eye. I have been gathering all the info I can since 6mmbr had a intro on it about 3 months ago. It is called a MVP, a bolt action with a 24", 1-9 fluted Varmit tube, laminated stock & accepts AR mags. Looks good, if the barrel is good, I can see buying one, my brother has one on order.

If I had any need for a .223 I would like to try one out.  They look pretty decent.  Look forward to a range report from someone who has one.

Just went and looked at it. I couldn't own one of them. I think the old Mod 800's were a lot better looking. And that clip hanging down would drive me nuts. And I'm pretty much a classic style wood stock kind of guy. In fairness though I haven't heard a thing about them till now, there were some good reviews on the mod 100 ATR, I think that's what it is called. Buying a rifle for me is pretty simple, I either like how it looks and handles or I don't. Doesn't matter how well it shoots to me normally because I'm gonna take it apart and mess with it anyway!

Well? ??? ?  DP

We are working with our Deer rifles now, currently working up 308 loads. Gun Season starts Saturday, so the MVP test will have to wait.
