Model 158 scope mounts

I have a 44 mag model 158 which scope mounts will work the best,, having a hard time with open sights shooting high at 50 yrds.

Weaver 82 scope base fits the modern Handi barrels. If you have a scope with a bell you will need pretty high rings but the hammer clearance kind of comes into play as well on the higher rings. Some people use a 4x shotgun scope (longer eye relief) and mount it just ahead of the hammer so you don't need a spur and also can go lower to the barrel.
I believe I have a Weaver 82 on my old topper 58 as well but I didn't check before typing this so that could be wrong, (Just checked it is an 82) but the FAQ will list what you need. Hope this helps, thejanitor

The standard rail for the Handi works as well if not better than the Weaver 82 (more slots)
But usually involves removal of rear sights. The shorter Weaver 92A eliminates that need with
the right scope. Med rings work for average scopes. Fred.  Also see the FAQS -has imfo.

If you can find an older Weaver 60A mount that was cantalevered those are what originally came on the 157's and 8's with the fold down sights I think but I have been wrong before. These may of only came on the profiled bbl also. Kurt
