Since I got my first ever in-line nice and tight and ready to shoot, I've been thinking about projectiles.
Gonna get some .440 balls, but I wouldn't hunt deer with them...
Gonna get some sabots and try jacketed pistol bullets... someday...
Oh! thanks to BakerBeans for his offer to send me some!
But I got to thinking...
If this thing will shoot pistol bullets in sabots, and it will shoot a patched round ball, why wouldn't it shoot a patched pistol bullet?
I've got a RCBS 240 gr. Keith mould and a RCBS 250 gr. RNFP mould so I cast a few of each. Scratch the 452's; to hard to load. The as cast .433's on the other hand were nice and tight with a .010 patch. Almost to tight with the folds caused by the material lapping over itself.
So I says to myself, self... if you cut 4 notches in the patch... So I did!
Lo and behold, what I ended up with looks like a sabot made out of patch material! and it covers the Keith right to the top of the upper driving band!
So next range trip I'm ready with a bunch of bullets and patches lubed with my (Gatofeo's) BP lube!
I love 'sperimenting!
