Finally decided which SA .45 to buy
« on: August 11, 2011, 04:14:27 AM »
I am going to close the deal today on a Uberti "El Patron". It has more careful factory hand tuning for timing and trigger, comes with Wolf springs and the rear sight groove is wider. Should be a nice shooter for $500. Felt good in the store.

That sounds like a good choice!  And if it feels good and looks good to you, that's even better.  I like the idea of the extra fitting and the Wolff springs (I always put them in anyway) already being there.  Enjoy!  44 Man

No choice, you get a 51/2" which is what I wanted anyway.

In Wisconsin, this is legal for deer hunting.

One Question...

Is this for CAS?

If not why not the Blackhawk?

No, it is not for CAS, just my entertainment. ;D This gun is way more accurate than you need for CAS, see pictures in my related thread. I have a Blackhawk in .357. It has been a fine one too and shoots well.

The Uberti is a fine piece.  Well put together.  Me, I'm holding out for a Ruger flattop in .44 Spl., but they seem to be unavailable everywhere I've checked.

I wish I had seen your post sooner.
I just got an EL PATRON  with the 4 3/4' barrel two weeks ago.
That way I could take the credit for telling you to get one!
I love mine .
Timming is perfect and locks up like a bank valt.
At 25yds I have no trouble keeping group around 2" or less .
(That's as good as I can do even with my S&Ws)
I didn't care for the thin checkerd grips though.
Sooo...
I fitted a set of COLT black eagle grips on mine.

Should look about perfect with your grip change. I need to shoot mine more before I decided to do anything with the grips.
