22 lr match barrel

I just picked up a 22lr match barrel and it seems the bullet is forced way into the rifeling ,.090 of the bullet is in contact with the rifeling and pushing the bullet into the rifleing this far is makeing the barrel hard to close.  It leaves marks on the bullet to within about .050 of the case.
Does this sound normal ?or does this sound like a short chamber ??

What kind of ammo are you using?  The match chambers do not like the long hyper velocity ammo.  Part of being a match chamber means that the bullet tip is up against the rifling (right guys?).  I use CCI Mini Mags in mine and the bullet goes up against the rifling, but it does not leave a mark on the bullet as deep as yours.  My mark is pretty much just on the tip of the bullet.  Try some different brands and see what it does.

That was my understanding that the bullet should contact the rifeling , I was using cci 22lr pistol match and cci lr green tag competition ammuniton.

I hve a std 22lr barrel that does the same thing but not quite that deep. Accuracy is terrific.  KN

I've got a 14" match barrel that does the same thing.  I didn't give it much thought.  Using federal ammo it sounds like the bullet is being ingraved into the rifling just as much quicksdraw's.  I use it as a IHMSA unlimited any sight gun and it shoots way better than me.
