"Witness Tree" Falls

http://www.kmov.com/news/off-beat/250-year-old-tree-falls-at-Gettysburg-National-Military-Park-127439938.html

Quote
GETTYSBURG, Pa. (AP) -- A tree that stood during the Civil War didn't make it long into the 21st century. Workers at the Gettysburg National Military Park were cutting up a fallen tree, when their chain saw struck bullets. Park officials say the oak tree was probably 250 years old. Bullet-finds at Gettysburg, Pennsylvania, are a rarity these days. The key Civil War battle was fought there in 1863. Officials say bullet-containing sections of the tree will be preserved and added to the park's museum.

Been thinking about this old tree.
It fell and no one heard it, sounded an alarm or really cared.
Seems to be about as worthless as the lives shed by both sides in the war and with about as much meaning.
who cares about this old tree anyway and why should it bring more meaning or feeling today, while ignoring the death of those who shot it up to begin with.
It is just a damned ol tree anyway---lots of the die and fall everywhere, everyday.
Blessings

Point taken WL.

Your post reminds me of "The Fall".
In one way the "fall" of the tree is a harsh reminder of the results of "The Fall".
Those who shot the bullets and those at whom the bullets were shot were, in the physical and emotional sense,
victims and first hand witnesses of those lesser moments that the greater fall brings us.

I look forward to the day of consummation where in the presence of God sin will no longer be that weight that we carry, we will be made complete!  The curse of "The Fall" will no longer be upon us!
Come Lord Jesus!
