Which is better, a furance or an air conditioner? It all depends on what your doing. For deer and anitlope the 270 would be better as it shoots flatter. For elk or moose the 338-o6 would be better with it`s heaver, slower bullet because it has more knock down power.

I think you missed what his question is. He is asking is it better likely meaning cheaper to rebore or rebarrel his existing .270 to wind up with a .338-06 AI.

I'd vote for the new barrel unless you just particularly like the current barrel for some reason. Both should result in about the same level of accuracy and the price isn't likely to be a lot different for same quality.

Yep, I miss the real question. I agree, rebarrel.

I've had more than a dozen rifle bbls rebored, and all have been VERY good.  I see absolutely nothing wrong with a "quality" rebore at all.  It's a nice way to keep the stock lines of the bbl./rifle...

I vote for a rebarrel.  the only reason to rebore is that is cheaper than a rebarrel.  A Rem 700 action is not a problem to rebarrel.  A drillings or something else that is difficult to rebarrel - rebore is the way to go.
I had a Marlin 336 30-30 rebored to 356 Win but all other bolt guns (about 10) have been a rebarrel.
