Just a thought since we have a huge debt and the world expects the US to police most of it.
How about we offer dictator overthrowing. A group of rebels can deposit 1 billion dollars in gold or other valuables in a secured escrow account. America then will bomb the dictator into submission and recieve the final payment of 1 billion dollars. If the rebels refuse to pay then we already have the first billion to bomb them into submission. Got a pirate problem and need those pesky pirates taken care of 1 billion in gold and the cities that support the pirates will be obliterated.

The benefits-
1) a couple billion here or there can at least pay down the interest on govt loans.
2) the industrial military complex is busier and creates jobs.
3) other countries would start to act right not knowing if the US was paid to bomb them into submission.

Not a pefect plan but it's a start. The libs should be happy we are bringing democracy to the rest of the world and creating jobs. The conservatives will be happy becuase there will be more jobs and more money available. No new taxes just using what we got to bring democracy to the rest of the world while getting paid for it.

Actually Shu, we have been in the "Dictator over-throw/replace business" for decades. Manual Noriega, & Saddam Hussein, just to name a few. The CIA under George Bush Sr. trained both of these future dictators at the "School of Americas" in Ft. Benning, Ga, and then helped them get into power. So why did we take them out? They violated their under the table agreement and started doing business with someone else. Whom you ask? Why our really close allies and friends, China, and Russia.

I would wonder whom would do the fighting. The one with the idea? Or our soldiers? It would seem that if the endeavor were worth wild, the entrepreneur would lead the charge with his on M16. It was after all, HIS IDEA.

I have too, but I wasn't fighting for money. I was fighting for the difference between right and wrong. I'll fight for right, even at my age. But I never fought for money.
Young men are about the only ones you can snow nowadays to fight the type of wars we have. Their unfortunately are easily led by throwing words, like honor and glory around, and into believing what their doin is necessary. An older warrior wants to know the details in why he's going to be killin, and gettin killed, and most causes now a days won't stand up to the scrutiny.
I never loaded up and went huntin a man, until I was fully informed on why I was huntin him. Then I knew, if he didn't want to come along peacefully, I could LEGALLY & MORALLY do what was necessary to get'em down.
There's no real honor, or glory to be had, when bleedin out on the ground. They have a real nice funeral, then everyone goes back to doin what ever they were doin, and your left layin in the dark.

I couldn't agree with you more Shu. When we invaded Iraq, I caught hell around here, for saying stay out. I had a dog in the hunt, as my youngest was a Sgt. in the 82nd AirBorne with 2 tours there, and 1 in Afghanistan.
We haven't won a war since WWII, and we have been pickin on half pint nations since that time, putin in regimes that absolutely devastated their own people, and keep them propped up, to benefit US, and US alone. Not only do we need to stay out of other folks' business, we should be collectively ashamed of ourselves. We have been supporting MuBarak and look at what he has done to the people of Egypt.
I listened to a bunch of people on this very sight scream war, but not one of them, missed a letter on the keyboard to join up, and help fight the war they were so for.

I got dogs in several of these hunts. I say bring them home. I have a count down calendar on my wall with 2963 days to go. When the last of my kin folk can exit the military. I have served and a lot of my kin have/are.
Instead of throwing 147 Tomahawks at a tin pot dictator let those people do there own rebellion. We aren't bombing Syria for the same thing, There are people starving to death in Somalia again and the fine moslem warlords are letting them starve. Just a few hundred thousand are slaughtered in Africa a year. We can bomb Lybia though.

As we pizz away good men in S--Holes around the globe we leave our borders wide open . We waste the best youth we have and the best industry has to offer. We should have nuked Tora Bora the min we knew the Attack on 9/11 came from leadership there . Iran what have we accomplished ? When we pull out will they finish what we interupted like Viet Nam did when we pulled out ? Lets get our own house in order.
BTW how much of our freedom has been lost in defense aginst those we have attacked in the name of freedom ?

Sometimes the world baddies don't leave us a whole lot of choice. Remember 9-11? Yeah, I know some people think we brought it on by siding with Israel etc. Well there is always going to be something we are doing that isn't going to sit right with someone. Our main problem is not that we are players, it is that we don't have the stomach to do what has to be done.

When and if it is decided that we must take military action, it should be decisive and sudden. If a war is worth having, then it should be prosecuted with whatever it takes to end it in hours, or days--not months, or years. And when we're finished, we don't rebuild; it's left as a smoldering waste-land as a reminder to any future perps.

We forget that those in the supply line civilian or military supports the fighter on the front. A military only exist when a civilian population supports it .

The need to meddle in other countries has gotten into an obsesion. It is worse than a herion or crack addict. We really need to bring our boys and girls home. We really need to stop interferring in other countrys.

Yes playing world policeman is costing us billions. The news media spins things to try to get us behind everything going on so the whitehouse will have our support. Lies about what is taking place isn't helping anything. Nato has killed more citizens than Gadaffi, we are still leading the campaign there and for what?

What happened to other country's soviergn right to rule themselves?

Cold war has been over for awhile. Factories still making bombs, still deploying troops to places where people don't want democracy or anything to do with the US style except for dollars. Oh, yes I will never forget 9-11-01 it was the day the world changed and brought the US further into the quagmire of the middle east.

I just think if we are going to do this we should collect some pay, before impossing our will upon them. We will make you into a democracy, then you can vote to stay a demcracy or we will be back.

+1 to alot of the comments. I think we really need to elect congressmen and presidents who can read, understand and support the constitution.
The debt we have isn't cuased by lack of taxation it is cuased by stupid spending.
