9" saw blades
« on: August 15, 2011, 10:08:57 AM »
I bought a 9" Craftsman radial arm saw at a garage sale for $25, but it needs a new blade and I can't find any.  Any help?

Star1pup,
Someone at Sears can't help you?  I have to assume you tried there.  Have you done an online search?

It took less than 1 minute to find it.  Just Google "Craftsman 9" saw blade".  There are a lot of choices.

I just found the one at Sears and I'll try the Google search also.  Thanks!

Hey, get a manual or some kind Radial arm saw instruction guide (especially the warnings) and read it.  I guess it's a toss up on whether a Radial arm saw or a table saw has claimed the most fingers.

I've had my table saw since the mid-60s and I sure try to be careful.  ;)

okee dokee.  Thought maybe a fella who had trouble finding Craftsman saw blades might be a newbee.  Just trying to keep the place clean and blood free.

No problem, Al.  It pays to be careful.  Before I got a job as a TV new photog I spent 11 years in a steel mill.  Both of those jobs could kill you if you weren't careful.  :)

Grim and I worked together for awhile and the shop weworked at had a radial arm saw that when you shut it off, it wound down forever.....almost silently....the real problem was, if the blade was not completly behind the fence, (Matt, George) and someone else pushed a piece ow wood up to it.....or a finger.....YIKES
I think one guy got bit....long time ago. Help me out Grim.
It is one of the scariest saws.....but handy too.

unless you need the full depth cut ..... use a 7 1/4 in blade .....you probably have adjustment on the saw and can very definitely raise the cutting bed to handle the 7/8 inch difference

Appreciate all the help, but I sold the RAS and bought a sliding miter saw.  I love the new miter!
