So why do trolls appear ? Do they feel they are better in some way ? superior in knowlege ? Are they just picking a fight for fun ? Or is it they lack skills of debate ? Are they just disturbed people with a sorry life ? What makes a troll throw common sense to the wind and take up a pure BS position ?
Anyone know ?

They were bottle fed as infants, consequently have felt unloved and rejected ever since. Just need attention and don't know how to get it. Group hug sometimes works. Goatwhiskers

I believe some are actually "plants" of the islamists and their sympathizers who intent upon sowing mis-information and inciting discord.

Spanky , none taken . I just want to expose why others think trolls appear. I offered my thoughts good or bad. Trolls seem to pick a post to attack not start one . I don't know how to alter the tone really , maybe you can offer some advice in that direction.
I do believe its good to exchange ideas on the subject.

I went back and edited my post. It seemed like I was taking jabs at you and that wasn't my intent.
As far as what makes trolls tick I wish I knew. It's a real shame when there is a good thread with some decent opinions and then someone just chimes in to start trouble.
Some people just don't have anything better to do I guess. $:-\$

Could be true, sure seems like it a lot of times. I think it makes them feel good if they can get folks riled up enough to get them a scolding from the mods here, makes em feel big. Might be the only life they have, trolling the boards. Another possibility is that some aren't really Americans at all, maybe sent here by the pakis or russia to stir up decent Americans, sure seems that way at times. Personally, I have nobody on ignore, but several I simply refuse to answer or respond to. Works for me. Heck, I even got a talking to because I agreed with another poster. Go figger. POWDERMAN.

i have played the devils advocate my self...on occasion

on other forums i have had alternate identities...so as not to tarnish my name

some times i split hairs and argue......just because it is a technigue i use
to to further understand your point of view........
that would indicate i value your opinion tho some do take affence

we have some trolls here...i nemed one but got it deleted above
i did not mean anything derogatory to that guy....in fact i look forward to his post
i don't have a problem with trolls.....been called one myself......if the shoe fits?

if i ever offend some one....
i hope they will e-mail me and give me an oppertunity to make it right
or at least explain myself....or you explain yourself.....outside the public eye

I believe there are emotional Trolls also, that due to their true inferiority complex and lack of life's interpersonal skills, can only lash out/react online - in cyberspace they find little consequences in stirring things up so it gives a little boost to their ego.

I belive that some are just ignorant of a subject, and instead of using common sense, go with feelings instead. Or, on the other hand, over think a subject, and put more into it than neccessary.(again, lack of common sense) Sometimes believing that they're ''superior'' intellect, is best. as someone who has occasionally been accused of being a troll, let me offer you my opinion.....

the members of this board come from a wide range of political, cultural, and regional backgrounds. we are not always going to agree. and like it or not, we do come here for entertainment. that being said, i try really hard to not type anything i would not say face to face to anyone; or behave differently because i am behind a keyboard somewhere. sometimes i learn something in a discussion, sometimes i just feel stupider for having read some garbage posted.

and yes, there are some people out there who just plain old like to start stuff. nothing a person can really do about it.
