I just bought a new H&R pardner in 12 gauge a few days ago and noticed that the locking lug that locks the action closed is much smaller than the lug on my 12 year old NEF pardner, which is basically the same gun. I also have pardners in 20 and 410 gauge which have the same small locking lug as my new 12 gauge.
I was wondering why did they start making the 12 gauge pardner with the smaller lug which was previously only used on the 20 and 410 gauge guns? Being that the 12 gauge is more powerful, wouldn't this weaken the action? When did this change occur?
