My new single shot!
« on: August 17, 2011, 07:51:28 PM »
Joined the single shot club today with a CVA Scout chambered in .243

Nice little gun for the price. They are discontinuing the full size model and just going to sell the compact and so they talked me into it. Im glad i went with it too! With the scope and base im under 7lbs and the short 20" barrel is extremely comfortable.  I bought some 80gr remington ammo for it today and sighted it in at 50 and then 100 yards.  My last 3 shots at 100 yards were an 1 1/4" group on a hot barrel. Not to shabby for a gun straight out of the box.  I do plan on using 100gr ammo once i can find something other than hornady bullets.  I really might add another one to my collection but just am not sure of the caliber i'd get next.

34 1/8" over all length!

Not familure with the CVA scout, but I like the way it looks. And from what you say, it shoots good.  ;)  sounds like a winner to me.

A friend picked up 2 of these, .223 and a .308.  I was amazed at the way these handle! I like it much more than my Handi's for a gun in the same price range.  Really nice little rifles and both of his had decent triggers too. I'll bet they will be a joy to handle in the field, much like my Contender Carbines. I'd like a .308 or 7MM-08. I sure don't need either but I am a sucker for slick handling single shots. Enjoy!

Just yesterday I picked up a new CVA Scout in .44 magnum and plan to shoot it later today.  It's blue because a stainless was not available.  I like the way it feels and the trigger feels good.  I think it's gonna be okay.  The guy at the store said they had sold some .35 Whelens but that was their first .44 Scout.  I picked the .44 because I already have an 1894ss and a Super Blackhawk and reload .44 magnum.

These little CVA Scouts sure look like a handy rifle..
Can't wait until they carry them up here in Canada as I would like to get a stainless one in 708..

Have never had one in my hands, but it sure looks like a nice rifle.  If you're getting that kind of accuracy with the first loads, I'm sure you can hit MOA easy.  Don't like Hornady bullets???  DP

I've since shot mine a fair amount.  It's very accurate and it doesn't seem to matter what it is fed.
