742 question

Are the barrels on this gun interchaneable? I have a 22 inch 06 that I would like to replace with a 18 inch or do they require fitting? I don't want to cut and crown.

Not in the way a remington shotgun interchanges.. You no doubt can replace a 742 barrel but it must be headspaced, not just screwed on and start shooting.  ;)  If you don't get more detailed answers you might consider posting in the gunsmithing forum.  :D

The 742 barrel slides in similar to a shotgun,that's why I thought it may fit with out modification.
