What a stupid statement to make. That will come back to bite her hard in rear. There are way to many variables that go into the price of gas, most out of control of a president, well maybe not an oil company president.

Well a bit of tax relief on gasoline and diesel would be a step in the right direction.
But I don't see that happening either.
When I hear statements like that I think of that ever famous "Chicken in every pot and a car in every garage" slogan by Hoover's campaign people .
History will show that did not pan out so well.
Two dollar gas is sort of like hope and change no guaranty your gonna get it or like it, but it makes folks feel good when you tell them things they want to hear.

In a recent interview with Gretchen v. S Trump said that oil should be around 30 bucks a barrel and OPEC is a bunch of the worst scoundrels in the world( the last part my interpretation of what he said)

What's the matter Crusty..don't you like the idea of $2 gas ? First off..we should note that the very biased article you cited was from the commie news network.
Next; not hard to visualize if common sense were to come back to Washington (after 20+ years absence). When B. Hussein took office, it was $1.79 tax included. Start the operations in the midwest, ANWR and many presently restricted areas and even issue a drilling permit now and then..stop the stupid, engine destroying ethanol additive and don't permit hundreds of different local "recipes" across the country.. then see how quickly OPEC would come into line !
Donald Trump agrees with Bachmann..and I would guess he knows a bit more about international commerce than the boy wonder does.
Thanks for posting that article, most here can see through the CNN bias and most can easily recall when during the Bush administration...gas was $1.79 per gallon. It was done then and can be so again..we just have to kick the liberal "control freaks" and "global warmies"..out of office..

Actually, Congressman Bachmann said the price of gasoline would be below $2.00 per gallon under the Bachmann Presidency. If that is a commitment on her part, well it's good enough for me. It may, or may not be possible, but it sure as heck is a better goal than what Obama is in favor of. The words out of his own mouth were that he didn't mind the price of gas going up, he just didn't want it to go up quite as fast as it has.

Well, Anwar has a 47 year supply of natural gas. Don't know how much oil as I work in the natural gas indusrty. Natural gas would sell at the pump at $1.85 a gallon with tax. In my area, we can't get any of the service stations to allow us to put in the compressor refueling stations so we can refuel our trucks and cars that run on CNG (compressed natural gas). Anyways, we can break OPEC's stranglehold by converting fleets to CNG and newly manufactured vehicles to diesel. This would almost eliminate all imported oil. My SIL uses biodiesel made locally and he only pays $1.85 per gallon since the guy who makes it gets used veggetable oil free from local restaurants.

1) more drilling
2) conversion of fleets to CNG
3) more diesels installed in vehicles
4) later more hybrids and maybe a hybrid diesel

We can do this and do it beginning now. Environmental wacos out of the way, and open up the drilling. Use common sense.

If a magic fairy came in the night and doubled the money in your accounts and in you wallet and did this for everyone, then you would wake up in the morning and say I am twice as wealthy. However, very quickly prices would adjust to the extra demand and goods would quickly double in price. So actually, you while you would have twice as much money, things would double in price and you would be in the same boat as before.

Now Central banks over the world have increased their currency units by trillions of units. The price of gas reflects this increase in money supply. Gas will never go back to two dollars without a substantial deflation period accompanied with much higher unemployment and the central banks refraining from printing. This will never happen.

Bernanke is not as benevolent to us as the magic fairy. His created money has gone to the big banks and the government while we have been left not being able to buy as much as we previously could with the same money. It is the "hidden tax" on the middle class and the poor.

For this reason, capital being destroyed by DC, there will be no recovery. Remember this: 1. employment comes from expansion of production, 2. expansion of production comes from capital investment, 3. capital investment comes from savings (time deposits in banks). Low interest rates, paying for an oversized government (taxes), and the printing of money destroys savings. Low interest rates only stimulate malinvestment; not the underlying economy. It also causes people to spend rather than to save. We may now be coming out of the eye of the hurricane. The backside is often worse than the earlier part.

Bachman does not understand economics. Neither does Obama. Neither does Trump.
I think that the only one that does understand is Ron Paul. Read his books.

I think that Michele Bachmann understands economics a lot better than the Obamunist. At least she understands that our economy depends on relatively low cost energy and particularly oil. She knows that restricting the supply is exactly the wrong way to bring the price of oil down. Obama on the other hand seems to have some very strange theories on economics and none of them are related to capitalism.

I fully agree with your first sentence. But Obam, the economic midget, is not much of a standard with which to compare.

Economic indicators have turned to the down side. An election is coming up. Obam will anounce a trillion dollar stimulus in September. The debt problem will grow worse. And gold is telling you that gas will go to $7. That is just the beginning as the great stagflation accelerates. Before it is finished, SS checks will buy a box of corn flakes. That is unless brainier heads take charge.

I saw a Trump interview by Huckabee on Fox this past weekend. Trump made a lot of sense. He said that whenever we catch China subsidising their industry to make an American industry either go out of business or move to China, we should slap a 25% tarriff on that particular product. He said either China will give in and quit and/or we get our industry back with the tarriffs on their goods. Then he said if we allow drilling everywhere, onshore, offshore, Alaska, etc, Opec will give in and lower the price of fuel to compete or make sales. This would also supply jobs. He also said he had a friend who bought a small corporate jet made in Brazil. He said he wanted to buy American, but the tax credits were too great to turn down. More jobs lost to our stupid trade policies. He said he would renegotiate our trade agreements, and if they killed American jobs, he would scrap the deal.

For what it is worth, Obama is using the EPA to shut down about 10% of the coal fired power plants (jobs lost) and to stop onshore drilling on government property (jobs lost) and/or restricting or holding up permits on private property (more jobs lost). I work in the natural gas industry on pipeline design. We once only had to get an EPA permit if we disturbed over 4 acres (width of area disturbed by length) of a particular pipeline. Now it is one acre. More paperwork, more delays. Permitting takes about a month to approve. 36 pages, gps readings, copies of USGS maps of area, etc, etc. This is required even if we install a main on an existing highway, in a subdivision, not just cross country.

Then we have to follow OSHA rules during construction. Then we also have to install the main to the Department of Transportation office of pipeline safety rules and regulations. More paperwork.

If we work on state highways, county roads, or city streets, more permits and paperwork.

Government rules and regulatons slow down, and squash some projects. EPA rules, government permitting delays or rejections is causing about a 1-2% drop in employment. If they got of of the way, and go back to rules about 10-20 years ago, we can begin to turn this country around and cut off the imported oil.

I hold my opinion on Bachman, Obama is aware of what he is doing, Trump on the other hand is a business man and his pockets are deep so he has to have some smarts in economics.
