Great time!
Darlene and I are just back from Gettysburg, Thurmont (ASSRA match) and Bealton, VA (bi-plane rides). Anneversary trip.

Now I have a almost all white skunk in the trap to deal with....

I've been to the Bealeton Flying Circus about 20 years ago. Took a ride on a restored Piper cub from WWII after the airshow. I asked the pilot to pull a negative G, but I think he heard me say do some aerobatics. I thought he was going to rip the wings off. I was very glad to get back on the ground.

as skunks age, their stripes expand and they appear to be nearly solid white after they get old. You have a very old and likely mad skunk in your trap.

This skunk is very young. Mostly white on top, all white tail. One other recently had only a white top-knot on his head.

20 or more years ago the Flying Circus had a Curtis Jenny. I guess I just missed my timing. The pilot said that they needed corrections all the time - much less stable than 'modern' biplanes.

Gettesburg was sobering. A bit dark for pix, I'll post one or two (didn't use flash, that kept shutter speeds to 1/60 or slower - hence camera movement).

Saw the 4 cannons, one of which fired the first shot. 10's of thousands died every day there - not something one can gloss over.

Very likely this afternoon. One of the MOST unpleasant things in life - these guys are too cute and GOOD natured (as well as well armed).

Albino, I wish. This one is MOSTLY white. Black stripes on face, black unerneith - so first look is oooooo - white skunk.

I’m a bit south from you in NC. We’ve had generations going back thirty or so years of reverse colored white with black skunks around here. Too cool until they get upset bout something then…

Better check , in Va. they are protected . The game dept will come take protected critters out of traps for ya. If they do please take some pics and post

I've checked. Fish and game doesn't want you to transport them, animal control (county sherrif's office) won't touch them as their not 'domestic' pets and the town restricts shooting inside the city limits (except to protect yourself). This is the 3rd skunk in 2 years with more around (rabies is around too - 17 cases or so at this end of the state) and I've lost count of 'possums. Garden is well fertilized though (lots of lime too). I could PAY someone $50 to do it though.

Some counties/communities near here are paying selected folks to thin them out to control the spread of rabies.

'reverse colored' - good term, descriptive.

You could always choke the thing or bludgeon it with a stick.... What do they really expect you to do? Can't shoot it, they wont take it, can't transport it. Seems rediculous.

And here is (pardon me, but I'm surrounded by skunks) the next of kin to the late mostly white little skunk. Really fun watching this one trying to get into the trap by digging under it and turning upside down clawing at the chicken wing!

I'll try to bring back on topic with a CANNON or mortar.

I don't have skunks. My problem is armadillos. They root up the yard bad! I have a small hole I put in the bottom of my backyard fence gate to allow the cat to come and go easily without having to jump over the fence. That hole is the critter highway. I set my "Have a Heart" trap right in front of the hole with no bait. So far, I've caught 2 armadillos, 5 raccoons, one possum and a squirrel.

Ahhh armadillo's - 'possum on the half shell.

One fellow here tried grub-control stuff for the lawn -- no more grubs, no more skunks.

My dad used to have problems with woodchucks underneath a shedand getting into his tomatoes. Now they have just stopped coming around.

Cant you relocate it ? regaurdless of what the gooberment says ? If not shoot it in the head . Why make the thing suffer ?

Ernie told a story of killing ground squirrls or something with anhydris

ammonia .

Everything was going fine (for ernie) till some of the gas came up his leg ,he said OHHHH it burns like hell , I'd use something a little kinder ..... maybe car fumes from a hose ....

Ernie thought it was good for the squirrels in the holes but ,personaly he didnt care for it !

Fish and Game says DON'T transport anywhere - ok I don't want to spread anything.
Can't shoot it legally - I live in town, not even a BB (small BB, not bowlling balls) gun.
Fumes take MANY minutes,
Underwater is just 2 or 3 at most.

I WISH there was an easier, faster method.

Box it up and send it to Washington D.C. they are used to skunk.
