Obama does not know what a job is because he himself has never had one. And that is a very sad fact. Add to this a guy who has never run a business or even a department with a real budget of any kind. He literally has no clue whats he doing when it comes to jobs and the economy. Putting him in the WH was akin to taking your 18 year old kind and trusting him with the economic affairs of the nation and its people. How stupid have the American people become?

seems Perrys first order of business is to start rewriting the constitution. Don't say it's a liberal scare tactic since I saw him say it on an interview. I guess this mental midget feels he's smarter than Franklin, Jefferson, Hamilton and the other framers.
I love when this bozo and the other clowns say that my SS is an entitlement. I and my employers have paid into the trust fund which these crooked politicians have raped all these years. They are all a bunch of crooks and belong in Levenworth not Washington.

I'm all for privatizing SS, but that means new people entering the workforce. my SS would be protected until I die but a newcomer has the opportunity to retire as a millionaire.

Not only should it be privatized, it should also be made optional. The same thing applies to medicare. Currently, both schemes are nothing more than a means to spread the wealth. If someone doesn't want to pay into SSI, then they shouldn't have to.

I've been arguing this for a long time. The essence of freedom, to me, is the ability to go through life without the government training wheels attached. Each of us should be able to make our own decisions regarding retirement, disability, healthcare, etc... and for those of us who believe we can manage our affairs better than the government, we should be given that opportunity.

Sadly, even those who consider themselves, "conservative" don't want to run the risk of not getting that government check each month, and they need people like me to guarantee that...

Perry will never touch the second amendment. In fact, is has enforced it. Loaded .44 Mag in your glove box! No problem. No CCW needed either. Perry signed that one into law. Oh, and he also signed into law this session that no Texas employer can prohibit their employees from having guns in their vehicles while on company property. Didn't you Dems know this?

Based on what I've read, he is about 70-80% OK. That is better the big Zero in office now. I think right now he has the best chance of beating Zero. If he carries the south, plains and mountain states, with one or two midwest states, he can be the big Zero. I fear Obama might stir up something before the election and declare martial law nationwide and suspend elections.

Yes. It's not currently optional. I'm a 33 year old physician who is just getting my practice started. I still have to pay payroll taxes for medicare and SSI despite the fact that I will never see that money again. The option I do have is a separate retirement fund that I am putting money into, and I am looking into purchasing a health savings account for retirement so I don't have to depend upon medicare at that point.

If you guys read what I posted a while back, it answers a lot of questions. Bugeye seems to be the only one who read it. Now as far as switching parties, most all the conservative democrats in the south switched when Reagan was president or shortly thereafter. Democrats ruled the south after the Civil War because Lincoln was a Republican. When the Dems started getting further and further left, the conservative democrats of the old south, which included Texas switched.

Back when Alabama won the national football championship in 1992, Alabama's senator Shelby was a democrat, life long southern democrat. Because he opposed Clinton on a lot of his issues, he was only given one ticket the the banquet at the Whitehouse honoring the football team. Now everyone else was given 8 tickets. Shelby said that was the last straw, he switched. He went to the University of Alabama, etc, but he said the Democratic party, especially under Clinton went too far left. So what, 20 years in the Republican party does not a switch hitter make. They were probably democrats far less time in their lives than Republicans. Reagan was a democrat until he discovered the real America in his travels, and he switched. Even back then, there was less real divide. Today the divide is getting bigger.

First of all I have not committed to voting for Rick Perry, as Ron Paul and Michelle Backmann, seem more my style. HOWEVER! I see the same ole crowd saying the same ole things, about Perry, which most times have not a speck of truth to them. It would seem to make one's statements more credible, if that person making them would pick topics concerning Perry that were actual facts.
For example his record on the 2nd Amendment. Not only has he signed "carry laws" that were ABSOLUTELY PRO 2nd Amendment, but also when the "CASTLE DOCTRINE" was introduced in Texas, he jumped on board and signed it IMMEDIATELY! For you gun loving folks in other states that your laws are so restrictive, but you don't like Perry, that means, that we Texans don't have to stand and watch while our belongings are carried off, and we don't have run from our own house, OR PROPERTY, when the thugs break in, AND! We don't have to "drag'em in the house" if we shoot'em thru the door or on the porch when their tryin to break in.
As for his "Christian Values"? Well we could certainly use some of that in D.C., maybe there would be fewer Congressmen, and Senators resigning over sex scandals.
As for your not being able to buy beer on Sunday, and him "resurrecting the blue law"? Ok, where is it that he made that statement? I live in Texas, and I don't remember that. However, if buying beer on Sunday is one of your priorities, I doubt I would care about any of your other priorities anyway, so never mind. But on the other hand, if the blue law were in effect, are you too stupid to buy it on Saturday, in preperation for drinkin it on Sunday?
And then we have this "ISSUE" , of him wanting to "SECEED FROM THE UNION". Taking statements out of context is very popular these days, in the news, and here on GBO. His actual point was, AND STILL IS, we would be much better "economically" off seceding from the Union, (and we would) than saddled with UNION DEBT from states such as New York, Michigan, California, Wisconsin, Illinois and others, where "UNIONS" have run their economy into the hole.
A Texas State Representative by the name of David Swinford whom was a friend of mine did a study, OVER TWENTY YEARS AGO, and introduced a Bill in the Texas House to secede from the Union, which would free up Texas RESOURCE REVENUE, to give EVERY CHILD IN TEXAS, WHETHER LEGAL OR NOT A FREE COLLEGE EDUCATION, when relieved of debt caused by Washington D.C. Did he really want to secede? Of course not. He did it to make a point, and it did.
Millions of folks from YOUR STATES, are fleeing to MY STATE, to escape heavy business and property taxes. Did Perry make the laws that caused this exodus? No, but he signed many of them, and I wish he would stop, because it's gettin crowded.
SO! My point here is. I don't know if I'll vote for the guy, but accuse him of stuff he's actually done, rather than foolish speculation, and out and out "stupid" garbage. Even with his weaknesses, he's Governor of a state that ECONOMICALLY has done a hell of a lot better than most of the ones this criticism is coming from.
Now I'm sure one here, will break down my statements one at a time, and sarcastically ask for proof, but I would say, where's your proof I'm wrong, and I really don't care if he agrees with me or not, so he won't get a response from me anyway.
