Chose the Cimarron over the Hombre!
« on: August 22, 2011, 04:49:10 PM »
On another post I asked for thoughts on the Uberti Hombre that BPS had on sale for $300. I kind of let it go, and in the mean time got an add from Cabela's with the Cimerron 45 L.C. revolver for $50 more. Then came an offer with a 10% off card. That brought it down to $314. With a $25 gift card in hand, and a little over $20 in rewards points on my Cabela's Club card I walked out the door of Cabela's yesterday with this for under $300 total:

Yes, it's the lower end model with matte black cylinder and frame, but unlike the Uberti it does have a case colored frame. the brass trigger guard on the one in the display case had more shine to it, but I think the more tarnished look on the one I got blends in better with the case color of the frame. The grips are a dull, flat finished walnut look that goes well with rest of the gun.  Still made by A. Uberti, I kind of think they are pretty much the same quality as the hombre. Can't wait for some range time to try it out!

Same revolver I should think, Uberti makes stuff for different retailers, with some changes in finish, but the real guts of the gun are the same.
Play with it some and make sure it is sound, then think about 'modifying' that matte finish to a more satisfying surface.
