What's your dove hunting plan this year?
« on: August 24, 2011, 05:35:16 PM »
Group shoots? Something else?

I have plans for 4 shoots, but I read an article in F&S that prompted me to buy some static decoys and a mojo. Going to make a pole out of two 10' sticks of conduit, strap a branch cross ways at the top and perch the decoys on it, leaving room for one more to land. Mojo will be nearby.
Going to try it at our Shelby Co deer lease and see what happens. Cool part is the deer lease is about 30 minutes from the office (10 minutes from my best customer's office). With Daylight Savings Time, I will be able to go two or three times a week. Little ice from the machine at work and I can clean them as I shoot, eat them that night.
Need some Bob Gibson's white bbq sauce.

I gave up dove hunting about 20 years ago, got tired of being harassed while on a paid to shoot dove field. One time a game warden almost broke my shotgun trying to fit another shell into it, ejected the shells on the ground for me to pick up and walked off. It got to the point that each opening day, it became a nightmare with game wardens trying to invent some kind of new regulation on us. If any game wardens reading this, this is not meant for you if you follow the rules and regulations, but you do have some out there that intentionally harasses the hexx out of some law abiding hunters. I parked my shotgun in the corner on dove hunting and bought a skeet thrower.

Okay, the conduit dove decoy tree was a bust for doves, but it made crows comfortable comng in. Shot 9 crows. I think the decoy tree would work well near a pond, which I don't have.
