Which Winch???
« on: August 25, 2011, 05:13:56 AM »
Got a 700 Ranger and want to put a winch on the bugger.  There are a lot of them out there, but don't know which route to go.

Thanks for any info.

Personally for that machine, I would begin at 3500# unit. Iike Superwinch.

The simple answer for this question is get the highest capacity winch you can afford.  Nothing less than 3000# capacity, and if your're a mudder make sure it is sealed either by the factory or yourself.  Personally I don't have anything but Warn because I can.  You can buy other brands for much less.

ive got a 3500 lb warn on both my rzr and my grizzly. You can never go to big and be careful with the cheap ones, even the cheap warns. They have plastic gears instead of steal and you can ruin one in on hard winch session.

I mounted a Gorilla winch on my Yamaha 660 and have had good service from it. I've used it mostly to raise my snow blade. I did put an AMsteel winch rope on it and that stuff is the bee's knees. I bought a plow rope and it shows alomst no wear after two seasons. Their synthetic winch rope is all gain and no loss IMHO.
