There must be some sort of gub-ment 'spiricy goin on!

In the last month or two I have had snail mail interaction with a few members and the snails obviously took slow down pills or got lost en route!

Last week I sent a member a second check because he never got the first that was mailed around the first week of August! Another member sent me a barrel 11 days ago and I still haven't received it.

Please tell me others have had this problem! $:-\$ I know that the member who has been waiting for his check for the last month probably thinks I'm jerking him around!

Over the last year or so I've had mixed results.
Most have traveled to thier destination in a week or less.
Some took longer.

Recently bought a set of dies from off here and they arrived in 3 days.

you trying to jinx us? knock on wood, but i have not had any trouble. in fact i must be living right, have not had any trouble with any carrier in several years.

Dunno Richard, bad luck, maybe?? $:-\$ I've had just the opposite experience, have received several 1st Class letters and small packages from the east coast in 2-3 days recently, also got a pair of boots from Cabelas overnight that was sent priority, tracking confirmed that too from acceptance to delivery time!

I've been shipping reamers all over the states for several years, I've only had one delayed and it was right here within my own state, took 6 days to travel less than 350 miles!

Most all the rest have been delivered in 2 days, very rarely 3 days. Have never(knock wood!

) lost anything in the mail..... ever.

Some folks just have less resistance to that sort of temptation.

My last dealing with USPS was a 1st class letter from North Carolina to here which took 10 business days.

In just the last 2 months USPS service has been terrible. One piece of correspondence took 23 days to travel 280 miles and another took 16 days to go 450. Yet another returned to me, the sender, in one of their special envelopes looking as if it had been partially shredded. Richard it isn't just you. Evidently they don't like us non-attorney types either. Fed Ex on the other hand delivered at 7:30 Saturday evening. 2 days to go 900 miles for less cost than USPS could muster. Go figger.

Its not just you......Last thursday I sent a member a money order for a barrel. Sent it priority with tracking. Next day it went thru the sorting facility 10 miles from him. So naturally I figured sat delivery just like the local postmaster told me........Wrong as of today he hasnt recieved the MO and after checking the tracking number found it had went thru the same sorting facility again last evening. I think everything attached to the government is messed up.

We pay for tracking on anything important. Too many things get lost through the postal service. Locally we have good folks, once it gets to Lou you're on your own. POWDERMAN.

I just did a trade. I shipped the gun I had to Colorado via fedex ground and they said 3 days. I recieved the tracking # for a scope + M/O from colorado via USPS and it estimates on their website a week and a half for delivery. It amazes me how much faster a private industry performs.

Fingers crossed that I get the package much sooner than next week. i hope yours goes faster as well.

Was talking to my delivery man yesterday. He said after 33 years for the USPS it looked to him like it was falling apart. Said time for him to retire.

Not sure how many of you know this. But, USPS, and UPS, use the same trucks alot of the times. About 4 years ago, I went into my local Post Office, to check the PO box. My UPS delivery guy, was parked out side. I asked him what he was doing as he walked out of the building to his truck. He was carrying a box. He said he was picking up. When I went inside, I asked the gal behind the counter, who I've known for several years, what the deal was. She kinda laughed and said that both outfits had been using each other for years. Several months later, talking with dealer I know, he mentioned that he had an order that he shipped overseas.(Several sets to dies)He had taken them to a UPS center, and they wanted $80. He refused, and took them to a Post Office. They charged him around $40. The guy at the Post Office told him the same. Same trucks, same airplanes. As to why your mail is being delayed or missing, I'ld blame Obama. His administration is the one that wants to dip into Federal Employee's retirement accounts and ''borrow'' money. Maybe the Post Office employee's are figureing that they won't have any money left when they retire, so their creating a slow down to bring attention to their plight. gypsyman

Until just recently, USPS was the only way to mail or ship anything to Alaska. UPS and FED EX was too expensive. $52.00 minimal charge for a small box, and no home deliveries with Fed Ex. USPS did a good job usually, but on occasion failed miserably. I lost a pair of boots coming from Cabela's when a container got lost at sea, during a storm. But I have no complaints here. Net Flix between Anchorage and North Pole is either same day or next day delivery. Mail man often puts neighbors mail in my box, and my mail in other neighbors box, but we sort it out. Keeps neighbors close.

Now when I lived in DC it was an entirely different story. Like Richard we had checks in the mail that were not getting there. Packages from relatives missing. Lots of mail issues, as well as the neighbors having the same issues. Then one day someone decided to check out the two Semi-Trailers sitting behind the local Post Office. Found them full of both out going and in coming mail, some of it months old. Local employees said they just did not have the time to mess with processing those loads of mail. USPS did an investigation on that Post Office. During the investigation they caught carriers dumping mail into dumpsters, instead of making the home deliveries. So the Post Office periodically does have problems.

Having been in the Post Office business for almost 30 years( Canada) I can tell you two instances that delay mail delivery.

One: The large amount of junk mail that gets delivered via Post but not Fed Ex or UPS .

Two: Using one or two large cities for an entire Province to sort mail. If I drop a letter into the nearest town that has a real Post Office and is not a Variety Store to be mailed to a place twenty miles away you would think there would be some sort of plan to get the mail directly from Point A to Point B.

Not so. Everything posted in Nova Scotia goes to Halifax or Sydney, is processed there and then fwd to a larger town in my area which is responsible to further transport the mail to the nearest Postal Facility to you for delivery or pick up.

I recently swapped rifles with a gentleman in SC, both shipped USPS. His rifle arrived at my dealers in three days and mine, from PA, got to his dealer in two days. No complaints from me on that service.

The only thing I get on time from the post office is BILLS, we recieve payments at the pawn shop daily by mail and most of the peoples payments are late, we are just glad they are able to pay, the one supplier who uses the post office is Numrich and they get the parts to you quick but it cost alot. Well... I'm frustrated to tears!

I ordered some stuff from Midway in MO on the 31st and it's being delivered by UPS today!

As far as I know the member who I'm trying to buy a stock from hasn't received either of the 2 letters I sent him (one month and one week ago) and I haven't received the barrel another member mailed out 11 days ago! And I have had a couple of similar problems with the USPS in the last couple of months.

I guess the only safe way to deal with them nowadays is to send everything certified or registered mail...

I'm glad I pay most of my bills on-line nowadays... $:-\$

Had a simular experience back at the end of March/early April when I bought a T/C Encore .338 Fed barrel from Tim. Sent him the PMO and it did not show up for 3 weeks, the day I sent him the second PMO it showed up in his mail box. When he sent the second PMO back, it took 3 weeks. Both sent priority mail.

Those were both sent 1st Class, IIRC, not the same as priority mail. FWIW, I just got another shipment from Cabelas, priority mail delivered overnight to my PO box.

I have the USPS to thank for having to go electronic myself. Sometime back I sent a credit card payment 14 days before the due date. Happened to notice 2 days before the due date it hadn't been received. Set up and paid online right then because I DON'T PAY INTEREST! It arrived 2 weeks later and was credited to my account. No sweat. I was covered for the next month.

That Quick has such great luck with them is fantastic but for the rest of us, service has continually gotten worse over the years and is now beyond pitiful. Seems like the more we have to pay them the worse they have gotten.

I was actually surprised today to get a PM from someone I sent a couple of barrels to. Took it to the PO on Monday, parcel post and insured with delivery confirmation... from WA to WI. I was told it should arrive on Tuesday, Sept 6. I got the PM today (Wed the 1st) saying it had arrived... both of us happy.

On the other hand, about a month ago I bought (online) an external hard drive that hadn't showed up from the East Coast after two weeks. I checked the confirmation number and found had in fact been delivered to our PO. I know one guy there, and luckily he was at the counter when I went in person to check on it. He spend 30 minutes looking for it while I waited, then said, we'll keep looking and phone you. Next day it showed up in my mailbox, and a phone message saying it had somehow been misplaced.

Good thing it was only a hard drive - I would have freaked if it had been a Handi part!

are you sure you are not on some watch list or have a warrant out on you and all your mail is being diverted and scanned?
