I feel sorry for the guys family BUT some people shouldn't be let out of the house let alone near dangerous animals. This type of foolish behavior goes on in America in our National Parks every year. My ex-brother-in-law was a retired ranger at Yellowstone and every year he would tell me about the different people coming in to complain about a bear that caved in the side(or whatever) of their car just because they ran out of Oreo cookies they had been feeding the bears so they would get closer for pictures. This guy paid for his stupidity. Lawdog

man do you find the most interesting mpegs! goes to show that nature aint quite how walt disney tells it. maybe someone will see this and realize they shouldnt put themself in bad situations. imagine what folks perception might be if there was video of treadwell's demise. looks like this guy not only paid, but did it in front of his family. not to mention others who were not foolish who put themselves at risk to try to help. i guess it is more than i would have done unless i was armed. hate to be that way; but if you are that stupid, dont ask me to risk my hide to save you. just like these thrill seekers that need to be rescued. i say, you get yourself in, you get yourself out. thanks for the post! it might save someone form themself.

Now I have an idea of what an afternoon at the Roman Coliseum must have been like,but I think I would have at the least tried to use my automobile as a shield/weapon or something. I suppose he wont be able to contaminate the world any further with sheer stupidity though..

I never really though of it like that but your right. Does kind of give you an idea of what a Roman picnic was like at the Coliseum. :eek: I do agree with you about trying to do something instead of just being a observer. Lawdog

i did wonder why no one tried to use the vehicles to get the lions off. probably froze in the moment. i still wouldnt have gotten out of a vehicle like some of the others did in effort to save him.

The video is pretty short. I did not time it but most non-hunter types would probably freeze up for sure or just be to scared to act.

Something about this video is fishy to me. The baby crying in the window is just too perfect. The lions are not going for the jugular(sp?) as they would on a kill.

What do yall think???

I think this is video taken by one or more persons during an actual attack in a game park somewhere that folks have been told to NEVER get out of the vehicle but the idiot wasn't smart enough to follow that advice and is now little cat turds. Actually it is more likely that after the end of the video we saw someone did finally take action and the cats were likely run off in one way or another and the body retrieved whether alive or dead I guess we'll never know.

redman... watch a nature show that has footage of predators killing. once they get an animal down, they start eating. it is not true that they kill before they start to eat. most definately NOT humane. most of the footage i have seen, one lion will anchor the victim, then the others start to eating; with what ever is unfortunate enough to be lunch bellowing away.

Saw a complete video of this incident a few years back in Korea. Notice the vehicles and the use of the super 8 camera gives an indication the incident took place some years ago. The entire program I was watching was a 2 hour program basicly about the stupid things "Euro-trash" does in Africa and Asia. I was on a bus from Taegu (sp?) to Seoul (sp?), and they had "in flight" movies with subtitles, it was before the Olymics were there so probably sometime in the mid '80s.

The video here is pretty choppy and is from several of the camera's present. The show I saw was a smooth complete picture of the entire incident and shows a lot more detail; like the guy raising up and the lioness pawing him back down as she chomps a chunk out of his leg. While the lioness chases one lion away it does not take her and her two cubs long to finish the "meal", also graphically shown. It also showed the park rangers policing the little left of him and putting the remains in garbage bags. The video I saw was quite uncensured and lasted about 30 minutes. I too thought of the victims stupidity but also the numerous other idiots in the three vehicles. Other than the guys wife getting out and shouting nobody made a move to do anything except take pictures and film. No one attempted to use the vehicles to assist or drive the lions off. There was sufficient time before the lioness started eating him for an attempt at that but none was made. It was obvious the lioness was not a "maneater" as it was easy to see (in this video too) she lacked experience at taking down and killing a human. At first really didn't know what to do with the guy, didn't take her long to figure it out though. And as mentioned many times lions begin to eat before the prey is killed.

Also no one made any attempt to go for help until after the guy was eaten, the park rangers were not that far away though they probably could not have saved the guy. At the end of the show it showed the irony as the idiots had just driven by signs warning and showing not to get out of the vehicles to take pictures.
